Belarus / OSCE

Lukashenka sees no use of the OSCE activity.“The problem is that the West and the US were interested in it [the OSCE] when they countered the powerful USSR. This organisation is not needed any more. OSCE later announced, though they [Ukraine] have democracy on the loose. I don't know what the OSCE and the West don't like in them [Ukraine],” Lukashenka said.He added that “they [OSCE observers] want to count our votes.” “These are double and triple standards. It is unacceptable,” Lukashenka stressed.“We must build our life and give a rebuff to those infringing on our normal development, on what we do in the interests of our people,” Lukashenka noted.Lukashenko has no doubts the US policy in relation to Belarus will not change regardless of the outcome of the country's presidential elections. “I don't have many hopes that our relations with the US will change. But we are ready for changes if the Americans are ready for these steps too,” Lukashenka said.
