From the moment I “borrowed” my dad’s camera I knew I was onto something special. Seeing the colors and emotions I could capture was the perfect precursor to my career today.

Through years of photography college courses and life experiences from travelling the world to moving countries from Scotland to America, a camera was never far away, and my love of capturing memorable moments for others ultimately led me to my career as a wedding photographer. After all, what day requires capturing more color and emotions than your wedding?

In business for over six years, when I’m not caring for three energetic pups, hanging with my friends, or finding a new culinary hidden treasure, I nurture my business goals by continuing my photography education, and learning as much as I can about the ins and outs of being a business owner and entrepreneur. My goal as your photographer is to create stunning art, of your family, for display in your home, and keepsakes to last a lifetime.

YOuR WEDDING DAY PHOTO TIMELINEA wedding is a whirlwind of events, gone in the blink of an eye. We believe that there is little more important to a perfectly executed event than an organized timeline, as it allow us to capture all those amazing memories that you dream of, in a relaxed manner. And for that reason we have included this guide to help get you started on this important task. Here’s a look at a typical wedding photo timeline from our point of view. We are here to help assist you so that you don’t miss a beat on your special day.

6 HOuRS BEFORE THE CEREMONY

I’ve finished checking my bags and I’m now going over the wedding information form and having a meeting with my assistant to talk about the details of the day.

4 HOuRS BEFORE THE CEREMONY

I leave the studio for the wedding site. The bride’s hair and makeup should be well underway to leave plenty of time for family and couple photos.

3 .5 HOuRS BEFORE THE CEREMONY

I arrive at the preparation site to capture the finishing touches of hair and makeup and to document the bride getting into her wedding dress, the groomsmen making their final preparations, and all those little details that you have spent so long planning.

2 .5 HOuRS BEFORE THE CEREMONY

We arrange for a “first look” for the bride and groom where they see each other before the ceremony. Immediately after this we begin formal photographs with the entire wedding party and the bride and groom’s immediate and extended families.

2 HOuRS BEFORE THE CEREMONY

The bride and groom’s portraits begin. We work in a variety of locations and capture a wide range of poses. About 45 minutes before the ceremony we stop to allow you to freshen up, collect your things, and make it to the ceremony site on time.

30 MINuTES BEFORE CEREMONY

We leave the portraits site to set out for the ceremony site. We take a last look around and find where the light is coming from to best document the ceremony. At this time you should have a quick refreshment and take 15 minutes of quiet time with just you; you’ll want to regroup before all the excitement begins!

30 MINuTES AFTER THE CEREMONY

We arrive at the reception site and immediately begin photographing candid shots of arriving guests and continue into cocktail reception. If there are any additional formal photographs desired we will take this time to finish them in plenty of time for the reception.

45 MINuTES AFTER THE CEREMONY

We enter the dining room before the guests arrive to photograph the cake and floral decor. Right before the guests arrive we touch base with the catering manager or wedding coordinator to see if there were any last minute changes to the reception schedule.

1 HOuR AFTER THE CEREMONY

At this time we document the reception candidly as it unfolds, including the first dances, toasts, dancing, and cake cutting. But don’t worry; we are always available for any photo request you may have throughout the evening. Just ask!

4 HOuRS AFTER THE CEREMONY

We pack our equipment and prepare for our departure. But first, we will check with you to make sure there aren’t any further photos you would like or an overtime request. We may go outside for a night “long exposure” photograph of the both of you to showcase the beauty of your location at night. This makes a great closing page for the album too!

A few weeks before your wedding we will touch base with you, and if you have one, your planner, to discuss your wedding day photo timeline. We will go over all your wedding details from locations, special wedding day events, and much more. This information will ensure we are all on the same page for an unforgettable and stress-free event!

NICOLA’S WEDDING TERMINOLOGY

Up to ... hoUrs of coverage: We will stay at your event for as long as we deem necessary to get all the coverage needed. If we feel that everything has been covered and with you approval we may leave before the full time period.

additional coverage: If we are to our contracted time limit, and you want us to stay a little longer, you can add hours in 30 minute increments. The additional charge will be due within one week of the wedding day.

high res digital negatives, from yoUr wedding, sized Up to 8×12: Wedelivertheseunbrandedfilesdigitallytoyouovertheweband can also provide a USB drive. Because we believe that most printers do not use the best quality inks and papers, if you want to print any larger prints, canvases, or keepsakes, we have you come back to the studio to order.

personal, shareable website for one year: We use a great online gallery where your images can be shared with loved ones via email or Facebook, sent to Pinterest and more. The gallery is active for 1 year, and also backs up the images for 10 years!

engagement session: We spend 2 to 3 hours hanging out together, getting to know each other, and most importantly capturing some amazing images of you both together in that exciting pre-wedding time. Depending on your collection you can purchase prints and products from your engagement session from our a la carte menu. They can also be used for Save the Date cards if done early enough.

“client for life”: Once every year for as long as Nicola is still shooting you will receive a free family session valued at $399. This can be used for the two of you, your new growing family, a family reunion or a headshot. This is not a tradable amount. All additional products can be purchased a la carte.

dvd slideshow of photographer favorites: For each of our clients we create a beautiful DVD Slideshow of our favorite images. We show you this at your View & Choose Session after your event, and it can be purchased along with a personalized display case.

bridal or bonUs session: Often on the wedding day there is a rush of activity and being able to enjoy the wedding dress that you have spend many months searching for is often not possible. Or there is not enough time to capture those cool couple portraits that you want to hang on your walls. Or you want to do a more private session. This Bridal or Bonus session can be used for yourself, for a Rock The Dress Session or a Boudoir Session. This session cannot be traded for photography coverage or studio products.

Nicola is as good as it gets. First of all, she is a blast to be around. She has a wonderful attitude and great sense of hu-mor which me laugh the entire time we are with her. Her photography skills are amazing. She captured our wedding at the Arboretum and we were blown away with the results. We have had several people approach us about her quality of work and the way she captured the day for us. Romance is in the air and the anticipation of a lifetime together comes to a crescendo in the rush during the months leading up to your wedding, causing you to wonder: Is an engagement shoot necessary? After all, your wedding pictures share the beginning of your life, right?

Shooting an engagement is important for several reasons. First, this time allows you to get comfortable in front of the camera with your photographer, figuring out how you work best together before the wedding. Next, you can showcase your personalities in a more casual setting, while

creating some fun images for wall portraits, your wedding guest sign-in book, Facebook profile, and Thank You cards. (Shot early enough, we can also provide the images for your Save the Date cards and invitations).

Best of all, you can remember this special time forever away from the throngs of loved ones and friends. This is your time together.

All our collections include an engagement session because we love them so much, and can’t wait to get to know you in the run up to your big day.

At the place he proposed: After all, what better way to capture an engagement than the place it all started!

At your favorite restaurant: Meaningful memories happen with food, ambiance and your special song playing in the background.

Doing your favorite activity: You both enjoy playing checkers. What better way to capture your personality than in the heat of

game play, the agony of defeat, or the comedy of contemplating your next move?

Where you first met each other: Whether your first meeting was a discussion at the library or fumbling for the door at the local coffee shop, going back to your beginnings is a marvelous memory.

Images with your pet: What better way to capture your new family than by including a

beloved shared pet in your session? Your favorite skyline:

Your city is beautiful at any time of the year, and the skyline shares where you live now, a beautiful location that might change with time.

A downtown urban session: Fun and funky, pictures in alleyways or in otherwise undiscovered locations of your area make for a more intimate view of the city. (Our Favorite!)

Great engagement shoot ideas:

a wedding date cannot be help withoUt a contract and retainerThe studio cannot “hold” dates or “pencil you in”, dates are secured with a retainer and a signed wedding agreement.

engagement session valUeYour wedding package includes a complimentary engagement session within 2-6 months before your wedding. This session has no value and cannot be traded for photography coverage or studio products.

wedding cancellation: only in writing and no refUndsIn the event of postponement or cancellation of the wedding, the retainer and all payments received to date shall be retained by Your Studio pho-tography and shall be non-refundable in all respects. Clients shall provide Nicola Borland Photography with at least two (2) weeks notice in writing prior to any cancellation or postponement of the wedding.

wedding timelines: not JUst for facebook!In order for Nicola Borland Photography to complete your wedding photographs in a timely manner, it is absolutely necessary that everyone be ready at their prearranged times. This includes having travel arrangements made,havingthechurchortempleopen,andyourflowersreadyandavailable for your portrait time. Please be conservative with time when scheduling your wedding day activities. We love to help with this.

gUest photographers: no Uncle bobsIn order to eliminate any confusion on the day of the wedding, Nicola Borland photography will be the only professional photographer at the event.To ensure the quality of photographs, guests with cameras should refrain fromusingflashesduringtheceremonyandshouldnotattempttotakephotographsduringthetimeofformalphotographs.Itshallbetheclient’sresponsibility to inform guests and any Videographers/other vendors of the above restrictions and to enforce such restrictions

no gUaranteed images. Due to the rapid pace and unpredictable nature of wedding photography, Nicola Borland Photography does not guarantee the delivery of any requested or expected photograph.

EvEryonE’s Gotta EatNicola Borland photography requires at least one hot meal provided for all its photographers for any wedding coverage exceeding 5 hours.

price gUaranteed for six monthsPricesforalbumsandreprintsareguaranteedfromthetimeyouyou’reyourAgreement until the date that is six months after your wedding date. Following such period, then-current prices (as determined by NBP) will apply for all studio products.

albUm delivery deadlinesAlbum selections or changes must be provided to Nicola Borland Photog-raphy within one year of the wedding. If NBP does not receive selections or changes within one year, we have the right to design and deliver the wedding album based on our own selections.

albUm design process parameters Initial album designs may take up to 4 weeks or longer to complete. NBP offers a pain free option where we choose our favorites and work with you for any changes needed. Client shall have 3 options to communicate any design changes desired. Any design changes requested by client above 3 times will be charged at a rate of $75 per change. Each design change will take approximately 1-2 weeks to complete.

copyright policyAll digital images and other digital material shall remain the exclusive copyrighted property of Nicola Borland Photography and client shall have no ownership or other rights in such images or other material. It is hereby expressly agreed that Nicola Borland Photography shall have the exclusive right to use such images or other material for display, publication, competition or other purposes as determined in the sole discretion of Nicola BorlandPhotography.Upondeliveryofadisccontaininghi-resolutionfiles,client will receive a letter granting client permission to produce copies directly from the disc; provided, however, that any and all copies shall only be for the private and personal use of client, in no event shall client or any other person, other than Nicola Borland Photography, make any copies for the purpose of sale or publication and in no event shall client or any other person, other than Nicola Borland Photography, sell or publish any photographs or images provided by Nicola Borland Photography (or any copies thereof).
