Look at your language, do you use ‘should’ a lot? We all have a ‘should’ list. For example “I should lose weight”, “I should return those calls”.

But if the SHOULD list doesn’t work...it is a little disappointing...but we knew it wasn’t going to happen anyway!

When we make the change from ‘should’ to ‘must’, something occurs in our brain and the MUST becomes part of our identity.

The strongest force in the whole human personality is this need to stay ‘consistent’ with how we define ourselves. Use these steps to create achievable goals today!

(Remember we said you can use this goal setting technique on any part of your life)

Step 1

Select an area of your life you would like to improve and describe what that area is like for you currently.

Be specific!

Example: I am 5.5 kilos overweight, I am exhausted and my knees hurt.

Step 2

Write down the rituals that have shaped your current conditions in this area.

Be HONEST!

Step 3

Write down what you want. What is your compelling vision?

Be specific!

Step 4

Write down the rituals that will get you your compelling vision. What would you need to do differently each day to get what you want?

Willpower doesn’t last - but rituals can last a lifetime

Once you start one or two rituals - you get momentum!
