BEING CIRCLES, they have no beginning and no end and thus represent eternity, renewal, wholeness, and perfection.

While the wedding gown may be the centre of attention on your wedding day – your engagement and wedding rings, like your commitment to each other, should last forever. Rings are a symbol that will be worn every day and are ultimately an important investment that deserves time and consideration.

Coming from a trade with skills perfected over hundreds of years – handmade rings are crafted with love.

They are individual, inherently stronger and made to last a lifetime.

In purchasing from a qualified jeweller you can be part of the designing process.

From discussion regarding design to the selection of stones – a handmade ring results in a more meaningful creation.

The process should be an exciting, romantic and fun experience.

It is also a purchase that should be informed.

The diamonds in an engagement ring are where the majority of costs are so it is important to know what you are looking at.

Lili Fine Jewellery are the only manufacturing jewellers on the Surf Coast where you can meet and discuss directly with the jeweller about your ring, made to order. Lili Fine Jewellery is located at the Corner of Pearl Street and Boston Road, Torquay, 3228. Phone 03 5261 9999 or visit www.lilifj.com.au for more.

A ring symbolises a decisive mark of commitment, promise of ultimate love and devotion.

RingWITH THIS

Diamond cutCut should not be confused with shape. Shape

refers to the general outward appearance of

the diamond – such as round, emerald, or pear.

Diamond clarityMost diamonds contain some inner flaws, or

inclusions, that occur during the formation

process. The visibility, number and size of

these inclusions determine what is called the

clarity of a diamond. Diamonds that are clear

create more brilliance, and thus are more

highly prized.

Diamond colour When we refer to a diamond’s colour, we are

referring to the presence or absence of colour

in white diamonds. Ideally you try to achieve

the whitest (or most colourless) diamond

affordable.

Diamond carat weightCarat is the unit of weight by which a diamond

is measured. Because large diamonds are

found less commonly than small diamonds,

the price of a diamond rises exponentially to

its size.

The four C’s – cut, clarity, colour and carat weight are terms used to identify the various characteristics of diamonds that are graded and categorised by the diamond industry.

JAMES LOOKER said he was first introduced to photography as a teenager and has always viewed the world from a photographic perspective.

“I’m a self taught photographer, born and raised on the Surf Coast,” he said.

“Many years ago I was fortunate enough to begin my journey travelling the world with musician Xavier Rudd as his tour and production manager.

“Alongside working with such an inspirational musician I was able to photograph his life in all aspects and discover my passion for capturing special moments in time.”

As a way of staying true to his art and love of photography, James still shoots using film.

“Of course I also love digital photography as well, and constantly work to find a balance of both, but film is so romantic and gentle, it lends itself perfectly for capturing people in love.

“What I offer is an intimate handmade approach to photography, a boutique, quirky, more photojournalistic style.

“I love working with all weddings, especially those outside the box; in old rustic barns, magical forests, and ‘Mum and Dad’s backyard’.

“The word ‘posed’ and ‘oversaturated’

don’t exist in my world, as they are simply not a reflection of me as a person and photographer.

James said his aim is to capture the unsuspecting and precious moments that we reflect upon and re-live many years after an event has occurred, not an air-brushed posed image.

“I want to capture those moments and personalities and document them so that they can be re-lived for many years.

“My handmade and rustic approach flows across all my work and into the printing process, wedding albums and final touches.

“All my prints are of exhibition quality, and won’t fade in a lifetime.

“Albums are individually designed without using templates and then handmade with linens and silks (for the vegan friendly), as well as prestige high quality leather for a traditional look.

“Everything I do is from a personal and passionate place, because it’s who I am and how I connect with people.”

James can also assist with all aspects of the wedding from venues, scheduling, event planning, make-up artists and catering.

For more information email [email protected] or call 0418 160 164.

FORMALLY TRAINED in photographic make-up and beauty therapy, Sharon Murphy is the name that comes to mind when the question is asked “Who would I use?”– a fact borne out by her work in hair and make-up during the filming of the movie Blinder, which is happening in the region at the moment.

Sharon has 22 years of industry experience and her work has also been seen in Bride magazine.

Sharon said she had perfected all the skills required to create beauty in make-up, enhancing natural features that look minimal and effortless, yet flawless and long lasting.

She said she is known best for “keeping it simple” yet fresh and being able to deliver a look without that “painted” outcome.

Recently, she worked on a 1950s style wedding, which she labelled a highlight.

“There was one last January which was 1950s style for a Torquay girl who looked gorgeous,” she said.

Ms Murphy offers a thorough consultation with the client to understand her needs.

“During a recommended trial make-up session you will have the chance to discuss your ideal wedding day make-up,” she said.

“I’ll do a complete trial make up application until the client is totally satisfied.

“I take great pride in my work and add professionalism to every moment spent with my client.

“On the wedding day, I travel to them so they can relax while preparing for their special day.”

With wedding season coming to an end, Ms Murphy’s attention is turning to graduations and debutante balls.

For more information call Sharon Murphy on 0417 520 755.

LOCATED IN the heart of Torquay, Bomboras’ individual style provides the perfect setting for friends and family at a coastal reception, and is one of the only venues with a 1am license extending out to their al fresco area.

Bomboras can cater for up to 80 sit down guests and 130 stand-up cocktail party-goers, and the Bomboras team also offer a full catering service at many of Torquay and the Surf Coast’s best venues.

Co-owner Tom McGrath said since opening over five years ago, Bomboras has often been the spot newlyweds have chosen for their photos in between their wedding and reception.

“People have recognised it’s a really good space – the word has got around, and it’s a really nice environment,” he said.

Having both recently been married themselves, Mr McGrath and co-owner Josh Friend said they know what people are looking for.

“It’s a really special day, and we love to be part of making it special for them,” Mr McGrath said.

“We work with couples to create a personal menu and event to suit their particular tastes and budget, with the flexibility of all inclusive packages or something more personalised.

“We’re extremely open, and we create individual experiences not from a set package.

“It could be something from our menu, or we can work with couples in terms of the dish and accompaniments.

“Some couples might have a favourite meal, or something they had on their first date – we can create it.”

With favourites so far being stuffed eye fillet wrapped in prosciutto, stuffed chicken breast, including roaming and sit-down entrees, Bomboras is small enough to be flexible, but big enough to do what couples really want.

And with a 1am license an in-house wedding reception at Bomboras Restaurant can be a real party.

To find out more about your next wedding reception give Tom or Josh a call at Bomboras on 5264 7881.

Beautiful table settings, ambience and the unique style at Bomboras Restaurant in Torquay make it the perfect spot for a coastal wedding reception.
