It’s all because we have a great group of Sirs that were willing to step-up and get involved in the Branch. Thanks to all of you Sirs! We once again have a great BEC for this coming year and I’m expecting another record setting year. I will always be reminding you to ask that friend who you think would be a great fellow Sir to join you for a free lunch and looks us over. The 38 new members last year would not be members if someone had not asked them to lunch! Our continued growth depends on you to share what you enjoy with Sirs. Remember, you get a free lunch when your guest becomes a new member. In the next month or two I will be appointing a nominating committee. If you have a desire to be a part of finding new officers for our club, please let me know. Remember, you need to step-up and get involved to experience the making of a Great Branch. It starts with new, fresh ideas! I would like to thank all of you for your thoughts and prayers while I have been recovering from my knee surgery. Knee is doing well but I have a bad back. Looks like more surgery in the next couple of months. Because of the surgery I missed the Christmas Dinner which I was very much looking forward to. REMINDER: 2020 Club dues are due. $15.00. Message from our new Little SIR: This is a new year for Sirs Branch 149, and we have some new officers and some returning officers. Welcome one and all! As your Little Sir, one of my primary responsibilities is to have a great Ladies Day Picnic. And as you know, the Ladies Day Picnic is on

Tuesday, July 7th 2020, at Chardonnay and it will be catered, with the same delicious menu we have enjoyed in the past. Please save that date! I am going to need help from Branch 149 members to get this done. If you have any connections for raffle prizes, that would be a great help! Please let me know so I can get started early on this task! We also need our members to get up to date on our dues, which are $15 until April 1st, then they go up to $20. I hope you enjoyed our speaker (Stan Dennison) at our January meeting and hope it was helpful information. If you have any questions or ideas, please do not hesitate to ask!

Respectfully Submitted, Little SIR, Tom Dawson

At the luncheon we recognized the 2019 Flight Champions who were the best golfers throughout the year. The winners were Flight A John Buckley; Flight B Cliff Elver &

Flight C John Anderson. We also recognized the Match Play Champions Winner Ron Irwin & Runner-up Jim Keller. And most importantly, we recognized and provided a plaque recreated by Jeff Smith to our 18 hole Golf Chairman, Larry Yost & 9 hole Golf Chairman, Mike Murrell who do incredible hard work throughout the year organizing and overseeing all the great golfing events we enjoy throughout the year. THANK YOU LARRY & MIKE FOR ALL YOUR HARD WORK ON OUR BEHALF! At every monthly lunch, in the back of the room we have sign-up sheets for usually the next two golf outings and encourage all SIRS members who enjoy the game of golf to come out and play with us. The goal is to have lots of fun, make new friends with other SIRS brothers, share a lot of golf stories and not take ourselves too seriously. I want to personally invite all new SIRS members who recently joined 149 and indicated that they like to play golf to sign up for one of our upcoming golf events. If you do not have an official NCGA handicap index that is not a problem. We can help you get one and get on the SIRS 149 Golf Register. New Wearables: SIR identified golf shirts will be available starting with the February meeting. Quantity and sizes are limited, but orders will be accepted. Cost is $20 which includes tax and shipping. See Larry Yost at the back table. Respectively Submitted By, Peter Dreier, Chairperson.

On the SECOND Wednesday we play at Napa Golf Course and you have a choice to play 9 or 18. There is a minimal difference in cost for 9 or 18 holes of play

at NGC, but it is your choice. For all events we do have a contest (team or individual) and there is a $3 entry fee to play in the contests but this is strictly voluntary. Hope to see you on the links. For more info email me at [email protected] for more details or to let me know “U-R-IN”.

Hikers and Trippers with Don Krieger: Our first trip of the year is January 14th going to Richmond to the Rosie the Riveter Museum. There we will learn about the efforts and sacrifices of American civilians on the World War II home front. Find out how they lived, worked and got along. Victory Ship which is the last surviving ship built in the Kaiser Shipyards. We will have lunch afterwards at the restaurant on the grounds. Wine Tasting with SIR Bart Barthelemy: The Wine Valley Tipplers (“WVT”) met for their monthly blind tasting on January 8th. The tasting of a wide selection of Ports was well received with amazingly close average scores. Identifying specific Ports was quite a challenge. Out of 22 tasters, only 3 picked the most expensive and 4 picked the least expensive. Identifying the Australian Port was even harder with only 2 tasters choosing the correct one. Our next tasting is February 12th when we will be

tasting Cabernet Sauvignon, Sirah and Zinfandel; 2 of each varietal and attempting to identify each one. If you’re interested in joining our wine lushes, please send an email to [email protected].
