With retirement looming Michael thought this was his chance to cash in…but not everyone was as keen on his home as he was and it just languished on the market. Michael believes the problem is his house is old and tired and is competing with many new builds. Also the street number (95f) makes people think that the home is on a battle-axe block. So its time to transform this home from ordinary extra ordinary.

Summary of works – Interior This forgettable house needed a little floor plan adjustment to get the most out of it. Shaynna moved the office out of the master bed dressing area and into a room of its own. She also blocked a door off in this room, which led to the garage, making the office a room in its own right and not a walk through. Now the office was out of the dressing area there was no need for a second walk in robe. By demolishing this she increased the floor space and shape of the family room. Laminate was used in the kitchen, hall and family room while all the luxury areas like the lounge and bedrooms were carpeted. This helped the floor plan flow and connected each area of the house together. A modern palette of grey on the walls and bold tones in the bedrooms brought the interior up to date. Respraying the kitchen and bathrooms and replacing the appliances and tap ware also gave these areas a new lease of life. Summary of works – Exterior Charlie replaced the gates at the front of the property. After all first impressions count….and we changed the number to 95F to 99 so no more battle axe block confusion. He also tidied the lawn and flowerbeds. In the back garden Charlie removed the light-blocking pergola, replacing it with a retractable awning to allow light into the house on those darker days.

He paved over the bland concrete and removed a giant bougainvillea and screen to open up this space. He also replaced some aging brick paving with new turf. Finally he screened the back fence with bamboo to provide privacy for the newly dressed entertaining area.
