Brent asked whether Tairua still wanted a skate/ scooter area and were there people who are prepared to get involved. He knows the issue in the past has been a contentious one with, at various mes, groups formed, plans drawn up, money raised, only to have the effort come to nothing. The internet response has already been swiſt. Most of the posts on the Facebook page seem to be in favour of taking the idea further, with several offers of help made. This is probably to be expected given that the medium is one most oſten used by younger people. Brent is keen however to see a balanced approach taken to the issue and is seeking input from those in the town who don't use Facebook. The Parks and Reserves Management Plan is up for review shortly and Brent thinks this is a good me to "sensibly revisit this idea". He is hopeful that responses will reflect a calm and sensible approach to the issue, and not become a finger-pointing or blaming exercise. He says, "It is an issue that has different fences because of where you stand on this idea." But he wants to hear from all sides! This project will take a lot of working through. It will take some me to move things through the planning and implementation processes. Brent advised that Council has a budget for this purpose. If there is clear support for the proposal, Brent has suggested that the best group to steer the project would consist of people young and old, with and without kids, good communication skills, planning skills, fundraising Brent's keen to hear from all sides skills, and ‘count-me-in’ skills. He envisages that a core committee would have to commit for at least 12 months or more, and that a bunch of back-up people be recruited just in case. Interested? Got a point of view? Know of a great site for such a facility? Then contact Brent on 864 8345. Have your say. It’s time to review our Reserve Management Plans (RMPs). Reserves are much-loved features of our district, providing open space and recreation opportunities. We’re taking feedback now until 18 January 2019 on our draft district-wide General Policies for reserves and

the draft RMP for Coromandel-Colville area reserves. We’ll ask for feedback on reserve plans for other areas later next year. Some things to consider include scattering of ashes, placement of public art and managing dogs, freedom camping and drones.Go to www.tcdc.govt.nz/haveyoursay or view the document at our Council offices.

NEW ALCOHOL CONTROL BYLAWOur Council has adopted the new Alcohol Control Bylaw, which takes effect from 18 December. It consists of year-round, 24/7 town centre alcohol bans, as well as Christmas/New Year and long weekend alcohol bans on many of our beaches and seaside reserves.Check the maps showing the alcohol ban areas and dates on our website: www.tcdc.govt.nz/alcoholcontrol
