Laserfiche WebLink 8.0Laserfiche WebLink 8.0 is a user-friendly public portal site that providesInternet access to documents. It contains many new features that help

administrators configure their sites so users can find what they are lookingfor. This paper describes the new features in WebLink 8.0.

WebLink 8 Administrators Utility

The WebLink 8 Administrators Utility has been updated and containsexpanded functionality to help administrators configure their WebLink sites.

The utility now has:

The ability to configure repository connections for multiple IIS virtualdirectories.

The option to select a default DBID when multiple repositoryconnections have been configured.

Separate sections that enable you to configure watermarks, e-mailsettings, and the location of your temporary files.

The ability to configure WebLink to store usage statistics for localWebLink 8 Reporting.

WebLink 8 Designer

The WebLink 8 Designer gives you the ability to fully customize yourWebLink site without editing any code. You can customize the following.

ThemeYou can modify the colors and images of your WebLink site. Colors can bemodified so every page and its elements look the same, or you can get morespecific and configure different pages and elements to display different colors.

Welcome PageWebLink 8 is built as a Web portal to be more accessible to external users whomight be unfamiliar with Laserfiche or the organization's naming conventionsand filing methodologies. Instead of being directed to a repositorys FolderBrowser, users are directed to a new Welcome Page (set up by an

administrator) that has an emphasis on searching and links (bookmarks) tohelp users find what they are looking for.

BookmarksBookmarks are links to specific documents, folders, search forms, or externalURLs that can be added to the Welcome Page.

Search ResultsYou can configure how users view search results. Specifically, you canorganize which components are displayed, the order in which thecomponents will be listed, and specific component properties (e.g.,display/hide blank fields, display each field on a different line, etc.).

Search OptionsYou can configure the Quick Search on the Welcome Page and in the FolderBrowser to search text, entry names, fields, annotations, or a combination ofthese. In addition, you can enable fuzzy search options for text searches andspecify the number of fields a user must input when performing a templatesearch.

Document Viewer

The Document Viewer has been enhanced with the following new features.

TilingThe Image Pane now supports tiling. This enables the document to load fasterand it allows the user to see parts of the document before it is fully loaded.

Continuous ScrollingYour mouse wheel can be used to continuously scroll through documentpages and thumbnails.

Laserfiche 8 AnnotationsLaserfiche 8 annotations can be viewed on the image in the Image Pane. Youalso have the option to hide/display annotations that have been applied to adocument.

Full Screen ModeThe Document Viewer now supports a Full Screen mode enabling you to

use your entire screen to view a document.

E-mailYou can send e-mail messages containing a link to a document.

ToolbarA variety of new toolbar buttons have been added:

Fit Width: See the width of the document fitted to the width of theImage Pane.

Fit Page: See the entire page in the Image Pane. E-mail: Send an e-mail message containing a link to the currently open

document (this button will not be available if you dont have the e-mailplug-in or if your e-mail settings have not been configured).

Pan Mode: Use the cursor to click and drag the image in the desireddirection. You can also use your mouse scroll wheel to move throughthe document.

Zoom Mode: Use your mouse scroll wheel to zoom in and out of theimage.

RSS Feeds

WebLink 8 generates an RSS feed for specific folders and search results. Forexample, if you subscribe to a specific folder's RSS feed, when a document isadded to or deleted from that folder, you will see that change when you view

your RSS Reader. When a new entry is included or excluded in/from a searchresult, it will also be indicated in your RSS reader.

Quick Search

The Quick Search islocated on the WSearch Page (Search.aspx). It can be configured to search text, entry nafields, annotation, or a combination of these. Administrators can choosdisplay or hide the Quick Search on the Welcome Page.

WebLink Mobile View

You can view a simplified version of the Document Viewer on your mobiledevice. WebLink will detect when you are using a mobile browser, andautomatically redirect you to the mobile view. Only the Document Viewer

(docviewm.aspx) has a simplified view, all the other pages are the same.

Entry Locks

WebLink no longer locks a document when it is open.

Default Columns

Displayed browse columns can be configured by each user underMyWebLink. Once configured, these columns are stored in the browserscookies. Any user using that same browser will see the browse columnsconfigured under the MyWebLink settings for that particular browser. If the

browsers cookies are cleared, the default columns displayed will be those inthe specific users attributes.

Language Options

When changing your Web browsers language to Arabic, you will see anadditional Language Options node on the MyWebLink page. This nodeenables you to configure how your dates are displayed. If you chooseUse

Hijri calendar, all the date fields (Metadata, Browse columns, Searchcolumns, Entry Properties, etc.) will be displayed in Hijri format. If youchoose Use Gregorian calendar, all the date fields will be displayed inGregorian format.

WebLink 8 Reporting

WebLink 8 Reporting is a Web-analytics package installed with WebLink 8.Administrators can monitor specific actions being performed in a repositoryand use this information to improve the customization of WebLink. Actionsthat can be monitored include sessions, RSS information, searches, and

thumbnail navigation.

About Box

A new About box has been added that shows additional information aboutyour version of WebLink.
