Quiz Me Mastery Points

Quiz Me must be completed in MyOmLab. Reading assignment and class lecture videos for each chapter covered will be made available via Blackboard. Further, Study Plans including practice quizzes will be assigned for each chapter in the MyOmLab web page. Students are expected to master these assignments and mastery quizzes referred to as Quiz Me in MyOmLab. Each Quiz Me is worth one mastery point. A minimum score of 80% in the Quiz Me is required to earn the Mastery Point. Quiz Me can be retaken any number of times until the minimum score of 80% is achieved. However, before retaking the Quiz Me, practice quizzes must be retaken as well. The total Mastery Points earned will count towards 12.5% of the final grade.

HOMEWORK

Homework must be submitted in Blackboard. Emailed homework will NOT be accepted for grading. Two homework assignments will be made each week. Completed homework showing complete and detailed work must be uploaded into Blackboard. The file formats in which homework may be submitted are Word (DOC, DOCX), Excel (XLS, XLSX), and PDF (PDF). Files of all other file formats will be deleted without grading. If you use scanner or camera to take digital picture of your homework, the jpg files must be converted to pdf format before uploading. All homework assignments will be graded within one week after the due date.

CHAPTER TESTS

There will be one test for each chapter covered and will be administered through MyOmLab. The tests will cover theoretical concepts as well as numerical problems. Students will be allowed two attempts and the higher grade of the two attempts will be recorded.

TIME COMMITMENT

On the average students will require about 15 hours a week to complete the weekly requirements for this class including reading, homework, tests, and Study Plan Quiz Me, etc. The actual time required will vary considerably and is a function of aptitude for quantitative problem solving.

LATE POLICY FOR HOMEWORK/TEST

No late homework/test will be allowed more than one week after the due date.

First two late homework/test completions within one week are allowed without any penalty.

After the first two late homework/tests, 2 points per weekday will be deducted for the third to fifth late homework/test completions.

No late homework/test will be allowed after the fifth late homework/test completion.

DISCUSSION BOARD

Discussion board participation is not required and will not be counted towards grading in this class. However, students are encouraged to use the discussion board to post questions homework problems and difficult concepts they have difficulty mastering.

MYOMLAB

MyOmLab is the online learning platform that accompanies the textbook published by Prentice Hall. Purchasing access to MyOmLab platform using one of the three options listed above is mandatory. Quiz Me Mastery points (25% of the total grade) and Chapter tests (37.5% of the total grade) will be administered only via MyOmLab. Links to the different MyOmLab modules will be provided in Blackboard.

BLACKBOARD

All the class materials including class notes, video clips, discussions, homework, etc., will be made available in Blackboard. There will be one learning module folder for each chapter. The learning module will contain all the necessary materials for mastering the content of the chapter. These materials include, but not limited to Powerpoint notes, Audio/video files presenting content, and MS-Word document containing example class problems

There will also be a course schedule section. This section will have one folder for each week and will have a list of all the tasks and assessments that must be completed for each given week. This list of tasks will include, but not limited to:

TEACHING/LEARNING STRATEGIES:

A detailed weekly schedule for the course will be provided in Blackboard. There will be one folder for each week of classes. The folder will contain a list of learning tasks including reading assignment, video lectures to watch, and class work to complete. Further, the folder will contain a list of assessments to complete such as homework, Quiz Me, and tests. Students must complete all the listed learning tasks and assessments as given in the weekly schedule.

Basic Excel knowledge including entering basic formulas, formatting, printing, etc.
