C) The Top Fantasy Book of All Times
Heroic fantasy fiction is often set in medieval- like settings and focuses on the heroic journey of a hero. The props are complicated, involving a hero from humble origins (or ignorant of his royal lineage), and many people from several nations and lands. Grand battles symbolize the universal conflict of good versus evil. The Lord of the Rings, written by J.R.R. Tolkien , that came out in 1954, is the best known example of epic fantasy fiction. it is one of the best-selling novels ever written, translated in 38 languages, with 150 million copies sold. In the book, the Dark Lord Sauron created the one ring, the weapon he needs to conquer Middle-earth. The story follows the War of the Ring through the eyes of hobbit Frodo Baggins. The lands of Middle-earth are populated by humans, hobbits, elves, dwarves, and orcs, and other fantasy creatures. Tolkien’s book has inspired, and continues to inspire, artwork, music, films and television, video games, and literature.
