Home Alone, Staying SafeAGES 9-11

Home Alone Staying Safe prepares 9-11 year olds for situations that can happen when staying home alone, from the unexpected knock on the door to the 911 emergency phone calls. This program, taught by health educators from South Shore Safety, covers safety to and from school, phone and food safety, first aid, choking prevention, Heimlich maneuver and street smarts awareness. This 3 morning workshop will provide an overview of the evaluation process, how parents can prepare for participation in the process, the composition of the IEP, elements necessary for student optimal achievement, goal setting and follow through, and tips for parents to keep their eye on the target.

Technology and fun are what computer camp is all about. Students will get the opportunity to work together and learn how to design their own websites, edit photos, create blogs, podcasts, videocasts, use Google Docs, and much more. Well also explore real world technology with the latest software from Microsoft Word, Powerpoint, and Adobe Photoshop. Students are welcome to bring in their iPad, iPod, or iPhone to use at computer camp because, after all, using and exploring the potential of our technological devices is what computer camp is all about! LEARN TO PLAY STEEL DRUMSAGES 10-15

Learn to play steel drums, which come from the Caribbean island of Trinidad. Playing steel drums is a lot of fun and it is easy to play! Students will learn to play several songs, which will culminate with a mini-performance on the final morning. No prior musical experience necessary. Max # of students is 15

PLAY AND MAKE OWN DIDGERIDOO AGES 11 - 15

The didgeridoo is a traditional Aboriginal instrument from Australia. In this exciting class, students will learn both how to play and make their own didgeridoo out of PVC pipe. They will be guided through the process of painting and decorating an instrument. At the end of the week, students will take home their very own didgeridoo! No prior musical experience is necessary. All materials and supply costs are included in tuition. Max # of students is 12.

DRIVERS EDUCATION SUMMER 16 COURSE

The five day Summer session of the Before and After Dark Drivers Education program will provide 30 hours of classroom instruction on June 23,24, 27, 28 and 29, 2016. Students must attend all 30 hours of instruction and if a class is missed, will have to wait until the Fall session to make it up. The Drivers Education program also includes a driving component consisting of 18 hours; 12 hours of in-car, behind-the-wheel training, and 6 hours of in-car experience observing other student drivers. All road practice and observation will take place by appointment with the driving instructor. Students must be 15 years, 9 months by the first day of class to be eligible to enroll. Class size is limited to 32 students. Priority registration is given to Duxbury residents through May 31st.
