iPad Use in the Room 6 This year Room 6 received 5 iPads to experiment with for a variety of educational purposes, with the intention of acquiring and sharing knowledge with colleagues. While studying Light & Sound, Room 6 planned and produced educational iMovies to teach the class about one specific property of light or sound. We studied various kids educational movies and co-constructed success criteria for this student-directed project. The outcome was amazing. The students produced seven iMovies which provided great entertainment and meaningful learning opportunities for all. Room 6’s students became masters of the app Pic Collage, which is a great tool to demonstrate students’ knowledge. With Pic Collage, students can create collages by taking pictures (i.e., of their work or relevant objects), pasting google images, gifs or YouTube clips, writing information on the images, creating text boxes

iPad Use in the Room 6This year Room 6 received 5 iPads to experiment with for a variety of educational purposes, with the intention of acquiring and sharing knowledge with colleagues.

With Pic Collage, students can create collages by taking pictures (i.e., of their work or relevant objects), pasting google images, gifs or YouTube clips, writing information on the images, creating text boxes and producing a collage for multiple purposes. Below are some examples:

While preparing PowerPoints for our Ancient Society projects, the students used the iPads to conduct their research. The students can access the virtual library and all of the internet databases and stream TDSB approved videos to support their research.

IPads also are used to support our language program. During the Daily 5 (Work on Writing, Read to Self, Read to Someone, Word Work and Listen to Reading), students are able to listen to a variety of books of all genres and levels on Bookflix or Epic!.

During our math program, students often work in groups solving problems or practicing skills. The students then take pictures of their work (whether it be a solution or representing a fraction in various ways) and project their work on the screen to explain to the class.

These are just some examples of how students in Room 6 use iPads to enhance their learning.
