QUALIFICATION SPECIFIC INSTRUCTIONS FOR DELIVERY (QSID)
This document provides qualification specific instructions relating to the administration of external assessments for qualifications. Centres must ensure that external assessments are delivered in line with our Regulations for the Conduct of External Assessment which is available on our website.

Level 2 Certificate in Creative Studies – Art and Design (600/6905/3)Additional information Essential resources Optional resources External Assessment register must be
returned to NCFE after the last invigilated session. Copy to be retained by the Exams Officer.
Examiner visit required for this qualification which must take place once the final session has been completed and within 2 weeks of the close of the window.
Examiner may take a sample of learners work at the visit or arrange a courier to collect.
All learner evidence produced should remain in the centre and must be kept secure for 3 months from the results release date.
Learner evidence must be securely destroyed, except the final piece of Art work, after the 3 months.
Only personnel authorised by NCFE will be allowed to access this evidence.
Evidence should not be reviewed, assessed or marked by any centre personnel at any point.
Any specialist equipment to produce their artwork in the invigilated external assessment

internet: text blocks, photographs, video, animation etc. to be used as assets. (Copyright assets are allowed in the learner’s evidence but must be used solely for educational purposes). Sources for assets taken from the internet must be appropriately referenced.
Learners can use the school’s intranet for the purpose of developing and hosting their final product (if applicable). The internet can also be used to test and launch the final product (if applicable). The product must be available to access externally by the Examiner.
Learners cannot copy directly from the internet. Any information used from the internet must be acknowledged in the work.
Learners may not use personal mobile phones or other personal devices. If the learners produce a mobile application, any testing must only be done on a centre-only device.
Evidence can be submitted electronically.

All filenames must include the learner’s name and learner number; if this has not been included by the learner it must be added by the centre prior to submission to NCFE. No other alterations are to be made to any learner evidence.
Learners will be required to take screenshots and present them in a single word-processed document for electronic submission. They must be advised how to do this in advance of the external assessment. Invigilators may provide technical support to learners with screenshots during the external assessment, where required.
Learners will be required to provide written responses and will have the option to do so either in the question paper or on a single word-processed document for electronic submission. They must be informed of this option prior to the assessment.
Digital evidence must be submitted after the external assessment in accordance with instructions provided by NCFE prior to the external assessment window.

Level 2 Certificate in Creative Studies – Performance Skills (600/6990/9)Additional information Essential resources Optional resources Task 3 is part of the 10 hours
invigilated period, however, this can be conducted under supervised conditions.
For identification purposes, the learner must introduce themselves at start of the recording.
Teachers and/or other learners not sitting the external assessment can have a role in the performance including the rehearsal process, providing they are not doubling up on the learner’s part or providing the learner with an advantage over other learners. The evidence submitted must focus on the learner being externally assessed.
Any specialist equipment to produce their work.
In the invigilated assessment, all the materials they have produced during the supervised external assessment.
Audience - minimum of 6 people.
Video recording and playback equipment.
Paper, pen or word processor
Discs, memory sticks, tablets.

Rehearsals Must be videoed. Learners are
allowed to video their own clips of rehearsals but this must be carried out in accordance with the supervised conditions.
Learner’s final performance: Must be performed under
invigilated conditions. Completed in front of an audience
(6 or more people). Video recording equipment must be
set up to capture both the performance and the audience.
Group performances may be longer than 5 minutes but each learner must be seen actively performing at an appropriate standard for 3 to 5 minutes.
If a costume change is required as part of the external assessment this does not need to be invigilated

Audio files
Should be stored on a CD, DVD or memory stick at near CD quality or better eg stereo, 16bit, 44.1kHz.
NCFE’s preferred formats are:Mp3WavAif/Aiff
DAW project files, eg from Cubase, Protocols, Logic, Garageband, Reason must NOT be submitted.
Video files
Should be tested so that they can be viewed on common cross-platform media playback applications. We will be recommending that our Examiners view the video files on VLC player so learners should ensure that the video can be viewed on this.

The standard for submitting these types of documents is to print out and attach to the external assessment. However, for some qualifications electronic submission is accepted. Please refer to individual qualification information for confirmation.
