An Area Map to Support Your Business

Over recent years we have watched our community undergo a dramatic transformation. Whilst the Commonwealth Games and the SSE Hydro have helped increase visitor footfall, it has been the emergence of high quality, customer focused, mainly independent businesses, which together, have driven this regeneration.

As your Community Council we are here to help keep your business thriving.

Many of the domestic and overseas visitors who come to our community are unaware of the many services you provide. We want to change this…

Working with local artist Rosemary Cunningham, we propose creating an interactive Area Map to help visitors access the services you provide.

What does the map show?

Page 2: yokecoco.files.wordpress.com€¦ · Web viewIn the first community led proposal of its kind, it proposes several walking, cycling and public realm improvements for the area – namely

Tourist Attractions – Kelvingrove Museum, Hunterian Museum etc. The Scottish Events Campus and SSE Hydro Participating businesses Hotels Nextbike rental locations City Sightseeing bus stops Exhibition Centre Railway Station

How will the map be accessed?

The Scottish Events Campus has agreed to provide access to the Area Map through the ‘local area’ section of their website. Visitors attending a conference or concert are sent an email; the buttons on this ecard direct the user back to the website where this information is visible.

Skypark has agreed to hold and share the map with its businesses.

Exhibition Centre Railway Station – we are in discussions with ScotRail to ascertain whether we can display the map within the station.

What’s the bigger picture?

The Area Map is part of our wider Cycle Village proposal which has successfully passed the first stage of Sustrans Scotland’s Community Links PLUS competition. In the first community led proposal of its kind, it proposes several walking, cycling and public realm improvements for the area – namely segregated cycle lanes, wider pavements, improved crossing points, new directional signage and enhanced public spaces which are sensitive to the needs of the community, whilst making the community a more attractive place to spend time and money.

What’s the Cost?

£50 is required from each business to cover the artistic costs. If you are interested please email [email protected] and we will forward you a booking form and invoice.
