Excursion to the Landgate HackED event

I am writing to request your permission for your child to attend a Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) extension workshop called HackED.

HackED is a State Government outreach program run by Landgate for students across public, independent and private schools. The excursion will enable students, including your child, to meet and interact with other students with an interest in STEM through a one-day workshop.

The workshop is based on the ‘hackathon’ concept where student teams will compete to solve location-based challenges, such as finding the best location for a new theme park in Perth based on information about the population of each suburb and access to transport.

Landgate and its sponsors will cater the event by providing morning and afternoon tea and lunch; and have arranged a range of prizes for schools competing in the event.

I am pleased to provide you with the following details regarding our excursion to The HackED Event hosted by Landgate.

Date: 17th August 2017

Time: Depart 8:30am

Return 3:15pm

Cost: NIL

Method of Transport: Organised by school to Midland Railway Workshops. 1, 6 Centennial Pl, MIDLAND

Other requirements: Students are encouraged to bring their own laptop/tablet for the day; however if they chose to, it remains their responsibility.

HackED Media Permission

I give approval for images of _______________________ (student’s full name) to be used by Landgate and HackED sponsors for their own publishing and promotional purposes. I understand that students will be allowed to post content to social media during HackED and that Landgate may share this content using the tools provided by the platforms. I also give approval for the social media content to be used by Landgate for publishing and promotional purposes (subject to copyright). I understand that Landgate will not use images of students in an inappropriate manner, and that images of students will not be used for other purposes without parent/guardian approval. I also acknowledge that there may be mainstream media present on the day.
