Customers and Communities Directorate

Heritage Services Team

Enriching the cultural lives of our residents, Heritage Services involves working with the archive, museums and archaeology teams on heritage events and projects with some administration and customer service duties. Based in Woking this position will involve working towards a Business Administration qualification.

Blue Badge Team

The blue badge team provides disabled parking badges to customers who meet the department for transport criteria. This is an administrative role which will involve reacting to customer’s feedback to improve processes and develop new services to improve our customer experience. Based in Kingston County Hall you will be working towards a Business Administration qualification.

Archaeology Team

Surrey County Archaeological Unit is a long established provider of high quality archaeological services to both commercial and public sector clients from assessment through to fieldwork, post-excavation work and final publication. This role will involve project work, organising events and archaeological investigations and enable you to explore archaeology in Surrey. You will be working towards a Business Administration qualification and be based in Surrey History Centre, Woking

Trading StandardsSurrey County Council Trading Standards Service aims to create an environment of "Confident Consumers and Trusted Traders" through advice and enforcement. This role will involve exposure to the department through project work, shadowing and administration support. You will be working towards a Business Administration qualification and be based in Redhill

Environments and Infrastructure Directorate

Traffic Systems Team

The Traffic Systems Team is in place to achieve a safe and efficient highway network throughout Surrey. The team works alongside the Traffic Management, Strategy and Road Safety teams to deliver on this. You will be working towards a business administration qualification and be based in Leatherhead.

Highways Parking Team

The Parking Team are responsible for managing, implementing and (through the borough councils) enforcement of on street parking restrictions. You will be involved with dealing with

enquiries from the public, traffic orders (legal documents that allow enforcement of highway restrictions like double yellow lines) and helping to organise consultations about parking schemes.You will be working towards a Business Administration qualification and be based in Merrow, Guildford with some site visits.

Business Services Directorate

Procurement Team

The Award winning Procurement Team at Surrey are responsible for purchasing the best value services and protecting frontline services in a challenging environment. Pioneers in public sector procurement, they are constantly devising new initiatives that are transforming the delivery of key services for Surrey County Council and our partners. This role is administrative and there will be opportunity to travel to East Sussex as our procurement teams are working together in an exciting new Partnership. Based in Kingston County Hall you will be working towards a Business Administration qualification

Customer Liaison Team- Property

Responsible for assisting with the running of reception, meeting and greeting customers and colleagues, booking meeting rooms and answering the phones. General reception duties with a strong customer service ethos along with additional facilities management and health and safety exposure to understand the running of a large fully serviced building. Based in Woking you will be working towards a Customer Service qualification.

Property Commercial Team- Property

The Property Commercial Team plays a major part in Property’s journey of innovation and change. The aim of the property Commercial Team is to drive new income streams and enhance value for money from existing property assets. The types of activities currently managed by the team include weddings, conferences, events and all film location hire across Surrey County Council owned property. You will be working towards a Business Administration qualification and be based at Kingston County Hall.

Shared Services Team

Shared Services is Surrey County Council's integrated business support and transactional centre offering a range of services to employees, managers, vendors and Surrey residents. You will be working within Employee Services - supporting the hire to retire process of: joiners and leavers administration, employee records administration and time management. Based in Kingston you will be working towards an Information Technology qualification.

Emergency Planning Team

The Emergency Management Team ensures that Surrey can respond effectively to a disaster, by continually improving its service and encouraging a partnership approach in all that we do. You will work within the wider Local Resilience Forum and support in the general management of the partners by working to ensure effective governance through taking the minutes of meetings, and general office support in what is a dynamic and changing

Policy and Performance Team

The Policy and Performance service is made up of three teams; Internal Audit, Performance and Change and Policy and Strategic Partnerships. Our role is providing research, insight and analysis to inform strategic policy making, decision making and resource allocation.You will assist with administrative duties whilst integrating with a dynamic team. Based in Kingston County Hall you will be working towards a Business Administration qualification.

Children’s Schools and Families Directorate

Communications Team

The Communications team provide web based communications to deliver high standards of internal and external communications and stakeholder engagement activities for the Children, Schools and Families Directorate to ensure that the directorate receives the highest standard of communications activity. You will be involved in the delivery of these communications whilst engaging in a programme of study alongside your work with the team. Based in Kingston County Hall you will be working towards a Business Administration qualification.

Child and Adult Mental Health Service Team

The aim of the team is to support young people led projects under two umbrella aims:

To ensure young people have a voice in mental health services in Surrey, including influencing practice, process and policy, ultimately working toward better outcomes for children and young people who access mental health services

To tackle stigma and increase awareness about mental health and accessing services, including working with schools, other agencies and community.

You will influence services, process and policy, tackling stigma and supporting development of services, whilst having the opportunity to gain qualification and experience in an environment that is supportive to the needs as young people with mental health issues. Based in Woking you will be working towards a youth work qualification.

Outdoor learning and Development Team

Delivering high quality learning outcome based programmes to vulnerable groups using the outdoors based at our High Ashurst centre in Mickleham, near Dorking..

Throughout your year as an apprentice you will build on the skills and knowledge to successfully become an outdoor instructor. Initially you will build up your skills and confidence through training and shadowing our staff. Then you will progress onto delivering sessions to young people at our centres with support and guidance. You will be working

towards a qualification in Youth work and will need to be able to travel to our other two centres in Guildford and Ham (near Richmond).

Adult Social Care Directorate

Adult Social Care provides social care support to vulnerable adults, those with learning, physical and sensory disabilities, mental health needs, older people and their carers. Teams within this directorate work collaboratively with our partners to ensure Surrey’s residents have choice and control, so they can maximise their wellbeing to live independently and prevent or postpone the need for funded care and support services. Apprenticeships are available within either Business services or Health and Social Care Teams. These are available all across Surrey and you can choose areas suitable for you on the application form.

Business Services Teams

In these roles you will provide comprehensive support to our front line social workers and occupational therapists as well as working with business colleagues on providing effective and efficient business processes. You will work within one of our social care teams reporting to the office manager. These roles will provide you with experience of administrative and business related work while giving you exposure to the work at the frontline for our social workers and occupational therapists. You will work towards a Business Administration qualification

Health and Social Care Teams

These roles will give you a insight into the world of Adult Social Care offering you the opportunity to learn from qualified Social Care professionals and assist them with a variety of tasks while working towards a recognised Health and Social Care qualification. A key part of this role will be to support a variety of social care and administrative projects
