Mega model engineering weekend in the starting blocks: Faszination Modellbau Friedrichshafen from 3.-5.11.2017!

Faszination Modellbau Friedrichshafen, the International Fair for Model Railways and Model Making, is Europe's most popular and most attractive model engineering event. And in 2017 it goes one step further: The world's largest indoor meeting for steam-driven models is integrated into the show! At its ideal location within the tri-border triangle on Lake Constance, this mega event is loved by the entire model making community for its atmosphere and great diversity with so much to observe, admire and purchase. Scale jets shoot to the skies and fly in artistic formation. Powerful little bundles of energy pull an ultra-heavy brake van along a dusty dirt track, accompanied by the deafening sound of RC cars racing on the neighbouring asphalt track. Racing drones perform brilliant take-off and chase manoeuvres at the FPV Drone Races. Who has the greatest skills when it comes to filling a digger shovel? "Stars of the Year" – Meeting place of aeromodelling elite

Highlights galore once again at the fantastic air show "STARS OF THE YEAR" on Saturday 4.11.17 and Sunday 5.11.17 at its popular venue on the Friedrichshafen airfield. This is where the best international model aircraft pilots meet for their unforgettable end of season event. Among the participants are German and European champions as well as multiple World Champions, such as exceptional aeromodeller Quique Somenzini, one of the most successful pilots in RC modelling. New and innovative model aircraft take to the skies and the best pilots demonstrate perfect flight manoeuvres, lightning take-offs and elegant formation take-offs. For example Sebastian Fuchs with a jet premiere: his Alpha jet requires a licence with its gigantic scale of 1:2.5, its two JetCat P400 turbines, a wing-span of 3.6 metres and length of 4.6 metres. The Red Bull Aerobatic Team Robert Fuchs, Sebastian Fuchs and Tim Stadler put on a cool show with their new Pitts Beasts. This extreme biplane by Delro Modelltechnik has a 2.7 metre wing-span and weighs in at 24.3 kg. The numerous

amazing flying machines and fantastic flight choerographies performed to funky beats are skillfully commentated for the crowd of spectators by top moderators. An awesome show, and a must for every model enthusiast!

The WOW in indoor air showsSo much fun to watch, more aero modelling innovations than ever and a friendly familiar atmosphere add up to the INDOOR ACTION SHOW of creative self-builds, RC slow flyers and RC electric aero models in Foyer West at Faszination Modellbau 2017! Quirky models and unique flying creations rule the skies. Among them are historic models from the early days of flying, such as the Avro triplane belonging to Moritz Siegert, but also futuristic podracers inspired by Star Wars, impressive Eurofighters, micro models weighing only a few grammes and the yellow amphibian plane "Seagoose" from the cartoon series "Tailspin" featuring Captain Baloo. At the controls are top pilots including Germany's youngest show flight pilot Martin Münster, who is bringing an innovation by AIRC2fly with him - the motor hang glider Agilis. He will again be demonstrating his impressive flight skills with extraordinary aerobatics and snappy pirouettes, and as a highlight his pièce de résistance: steering a plane with the controls behind his back! An action-packed spectacle for model fans of all ages, accompanied by great light and sound effects – in one word: WOW!

Happy anniversary! 10 years of snowcat modelling at Faszination Modellbau

For the tenth time the pistenraupenforum.net team will be enhancing the functional model sector at Faszination Modellbau with their unique variety of working models from the field of alpine sport and winter technology. With snowcats in all scales and from all eras, high-performance snow blowers, fully functioning snow cannons, with skiers, a cross-country skier and tobogganists as well as complex cable car systems, the layout depicts a generous winter landscape with a beautiful Alpine backdrop panorama covering over 50 square metres. The snowcat crew intend to celebrate their tenth anniversary by presenting to the audience a very special PREMIERE: 17,000 LEGO bricks, 21 motors, 220 gear wheels, 93 tyres, 4 robot controls, 3 transformers and a total length of over 5.3 metres – the working model of a 3S cable car model is a masterpiece, functioning just like a real one. The cabin doors open and close automatically, sophisticated sensor technology regulates the speed and distance between the cabins, which can be parked at the gondola station at the push of a button. The multi-media show will again be moderated live, and will of course include the popular Dickie dance routine, the snowmobile contest, Pistenbully formation and rotary snowplough demonstration. NEW show elements and a gigantic music parade in scale 1:12 make this a memorable miniature winter spectacle for all ages. Not to be missed in Hall A4, which also hosts the ModellTruck festival in scales 1:8 and 1:16, the Truck Trial, Roadworker Arena, the military model layout and plastic model display.

For the first time: Premiere of the Roadworker show "Build it!"The Roadworker show "Build it!" is brand new and celebrates its premiere at Faszination Modellbau 2017. "Build it!" with its totally new concept focuses on the great efficiency of the models and looks set to be an exciting experience for all spectators. Trucks, diggers and tippers are the stars in the Roadworker Arena, which is the miniature setting for "A perfectly normal day at the site". The model construction vehicles are driven to their limits, master the most difficult stages of construction work and show their enormous potential. These mini giants are in no way inferior to real-life machines as regards efficiency and functionality. The accompanying programme of the Roadworker show has also been completely re-styled: After each show the professionally moderated "Modellbau Talk" offers modellers tips and information from experts in the field of functional models. The topics include connection tecniques, batteries, paintwork and first steps in truck modelling. By the way: "Can I try out a digger too?" was the most frequently asked question at the Roadworker arena in the past few years. And this year the answer is "Yes you can"! The "Roadworker Bagger Challenge" invites visitors to take a seat in the digger simulator where they will be given a task to fulfil. Test your skills in Hall A4 at stand 4110, where great daily prizes will be awarded to the best digger drivers.

Extra-terrestial exhibition crew from the Star Wars galaxyIntroducing... the exhibition crew of the R2-Builders Club: Star Wars favourite R2D2 and his numerous clones have brought along their buddy Chopper from the Star Wars Rebels, a rideable BB8, an R5- and an R7 droid and a Mouse droid. Visitors are welcome to watch and ask questions when droid builder Bernd Pentrop from the R2-Builders Club "weathers" an R5 droid on Saturday at stand 1064 in Hall A1. The Astromech droid is artificially "aged" using a special process in order to obtain a natural-looking worn-out effect. This enables a high degree of realistic detail in the reproduction of the droid, reflecting the tough treatment they have to go through on their many adventurous missions in the Clone Wars. And that's why they enjoy the peaceful atmosphere and great people at the world's largest model-making event in Friedrichshafen. Especially the youngest visitors with their open approach are very welcome and will be rewarded with a souvenir selfie!

All the fun of the fair with exceptional unique models"Roll up, roll up - the next ride is about to begin!" If you follow this announcement in Hall A3 it will lead you into a colourful and turbulent miniature fairground. Men in leather trousers indulge their passion for beer in the marquee, on the wild-water chute no one stays dry, the roller coaster is not for the faint-hearted, and only those with really strong nerves board the eerie three-storey haunted train. Young ones have fun on the children's carousel, while older ones enjoy a ride on the classic ferris wheel. But over by the bumper cars, a group of punks are making trouble, and there's a brawl in the beer garden, so the paramedics are preparing for a rescue operation. There's always something going on at the fair! With their enthusiasm for the bustle of the fairground, Martin Jakubith and Andreas Ciupek have over the years created two exceptional model amusement parks. The intricately detailed funfair layouts in scale 1:87 have been brilliantly brought to life. They have enhanced the standard kits used, among others by Faller, with their own ideas, with unique painting, elaborate lighting and creative conversions. And if sometimes a part does not meet their standard of detail, they design and create it themselves. All the attractions

are fully functional and the funfair modellers attach great importance to making their attractions technically identical to the original rides. Over 2,000 figures, more than 10,000 miniature LEDs operated by some 40 microelectronic modules create a magical lighting atmosphere on the layouts. And of course the lively funfair would not be complete without acoustically life-like fairground sounds and music transporting the spectator into the midst of the action.

A celebration of radio control at Faszination ModellbauAction, challenges and speeds of up to 100 km/h are the elixier that RC car racers crave. And they get it at Faszination Modellbau! The Bajacowboyz with their RC offroad cars in scale 1:5 bring high power to the track, racing around the dusty course in the outdoor grounds of Messe Friedrichshafen. A celebration of RADIO CONTROL by all participants! An fundamental part of the world's largest modelling event and for the RC car scene a highlight of the season is the German Open RC Car Masters 2017. With a high-calibre lineup and an enlarged racetrack in its new location in Hall B3, the contest is fought in six classes. Among those competing for the best places are World Champion in Nitro touring car scale 1:10 Dominic Greiner and European Champion Toni Gruber. During the race breaks special highlights and new releases such as 1:5 scale models, dragsters, RC bikes, sidecar bikes and monster trucks are introduced to the audience. Ultra-strong miniature power machines measure their strength in micropulling. Ten times smaller than their original role models, they pull a brake van weighing up to 25 kg over the 12.5 metre long dirt track. The winner is the one who comes the furthest – just like in real life! In Hall A5 professional suppliers present the latest radio control hardware with all technical and stylish finesse as well as the relevant equipment. Also in this hall "Aqua Action" on the 400 m² water pool presents submersible submarines, magnificent galleys and impressive dioramas.

Amazing model engineering diversity at Faszination ModellbauJim Button and Luke the Engine Driver chug leisurely around the IIm gauge track, a state visit with clerical and musical accompaniment is shielded by the police, a cavalier gives his sweetheart a red rose, at the fish market a seller sets up her wares, goods wagons are shunted on the loading tracks and cheerful passengers wave from trains as they rattle past. A journey through time, cultures, landscapes and seasons, modelled true-to-original or individually designed – these are the many enchanting model railway layouts created by exhibitors, international clubs and societies in all gauges at Faszination Modellbau. The two exhibition halls A2 and A3 offer more space for the overwhelming variety of nostalgic model railways both under steam and with the latest digital technology, in which leading brand manufacturers as well as small series producers and accessory suppliers present the whole spectrum of railway modelling: rolling stock in all gauges, technical equipment, figures and buildings, landscape models, lighting hardware and much more. 'Mr. Eisenbahn-Romantik' Hagen von Ortloff can also be found here, whose layout includes historic exhibits by traditional Swiss company WESA. The history of railways is his favourite subject, and he will always have an interesting story - and an autograph - for anyone willing to listen!

All aboard for a journey into the wonderful world of steam modelling

Railway enthusiasts who are happy to let the smoke and fumes of steam locomotives waft around their noses will feel at home in Halls B1 and B2. This is where all the action takes place under steam, at the Indoor Steam Engine Meeting. Fun for all is guaranteed with train rides for kids and fans of nostalgic iron horses on the world's longest indoor 5-inch track with a total length of over 4 km. The daily parade of traction engines and steam-driven vehicles with their appropriately dressed drivers is a merry feast for the eyes. And if you want to experience these mechanical marvels live and in action, just ask to be taken for a ride. On the 400 m² water pool, stately steamships take to the waves, while other magnificent steam models are presented in table-top displays.

Awaking the passion for model making through play and activity

Technology, imagination and creativity – these are the aspects on which the numerous hands-on activities organised by exhibitors, clubs and societies in all modelling sectors are focused. Their common goal is to arouse and nurture the passion for model making in the next generation. For example, visitors can practise their creativity by making cardboard models, hand-launch gliders, flyable model rockets or buildings for a model railway landscape. At the "Kids' Wharf" experienced 'sea dogs' assist in the construction and launching of a ship model. On the children's tractor layout kids can get their RC tractor driving license. The Carson company offers great fun for young racing drivers at their RC car track, inviting them to test their micro racers, and anyone can compete in the "Fighter Cup" to check their best lap time with a competition buggy. At the "Race of Champions" on the RC car track in Hall B3 visitors have the chance to prove that they have full-power radio control in their blood. Manufacturers Märklin and Faller offer a varied program for youngsters and large playing areas for model railway fans. Tillig offers hands-on digital fun live on a TT gauge model railway layout, where the technical possibilities for all miniature railways can be tested. The colourful and versatile programme is rounded off by panel discussions, expert forums and special displays for the whole family on all three days of the fair.

NEW: Free Wi-Fi is available for exhibitors and visitors on all three exhibition days for top digital networking of the model-making community in all sectors.
