Digital (A)symmetry Collage Projects Project One: Digital Symmetry Collage - For this project you will work on creating a digital collage. The final image bust include visual samples that create a composition that has radial and/or horizontal symmetry. The collage must use at least three different visual forms to create the final image. It can include color and the image samples can be representational. Your final collage should use symmetry in a visually activating way. *****The images above show the start of a symmetrical digital collage. For this, the head of the cow was removed from the original image using the lasso tool in Photoshop. Then the head of the cow was pasted multiple times into a new Photoshop document using the free transform(rotate) tool to play with creating radial symmetry….. Please save the final digital collage on the server in a folder with your name. Label the image with “your name_symmetry_collage” in a folder labeled with your name on the server. Project #2: Digital Asymmetry collage with scanned textures – For this project you will create a digital collage incorporating parts of collaged digital images with scanned textures. The final piece should create a visually activating asymmetrical composition

Collect: 8 images & textures Five DIGITAL IMAGES:a Personan Animalan Appliancesomething Mobilesnapshot of a corner of your Bathroom

Three SCANNED TEXTURES:something Furrysomething Sleeksomething Rough

Part 1: Collect 8 DIGITAL IMAGES. They can be photos you’ve taken, friends have taken, ones people have sent you. Last resort, collect images from the internet. Label images and save onto flashdrive and YOUR 2D FOLDER ***RECOMMENDED: pick larger images if you have them! Ideal Resolution: 300dpi

Part 2: Collect at least 3 actual TEXTURES from your house, found on the street or yard. Make sure they’re scanner-worthy. *The more textures you have to work with, the better. Follow Scanning directions below, saving and labeling all 3 textures as .TIFFS (or jpegs) onto your flashdrive and 2D Server Space.

Introduction to SCANNER — VUE SCAN:

1. Make sure the scanner bed is clean; clean with towel/water and wipe dry. Set your texture facing the scanner (not lid), and close the top.

2. Open Vue Scan via Applications in the Server

3. Set all modes in Scanning INPUT Window at top left:Task: scan to fileSource: Perfection 3170 or V700Mode: FlatbedMedia: B/W PhotoMedia Size: 8 x 11.5”Quality: PrintPreview Resolution: 300dpiScan Resolution: 300dpi

4. Select “Preview” at bottom left

5. Set Perimeters by dragging box around area you want scanned

6. Select “Scan” at bottom left *Another window may pop up, just ignore it and close it

7. Your scanned image should now appear in a preview window. SAVE your image as a .TIFF at “BEST Quality” onto flashdrive or into 2D Folder on Server
