Dear Sharon,

We have had a lot of fun on Thursday nights working on stained glass projects. Don't forget that if you have a project that you haven't finished, or a new one that you want to make as a Christmas gift, now is the time to get started. See the Glass Community article below.

SCHOLARSHIPS to the Kay Bain Weiner Foundation that support the glass arts in grades K-12 may be applied for at this link,https://www.kbwfoundation.com/Scholarships.php.

Teachers are welcome to make applications to this organization that is funded by donations from individuals, manufacturers. and retailers like us. Several teachers in this area have been recipients, and you could be one of them!

I know that no one wants to hear this, but it is time to start thinking about the Holidays. All those special little gifts for co-workers, and friends can be made here. Just call us!

We have Halloween coming up too, so the stained glass spider class might be right up your alley (stained glass experience required).

There was a last minute cancellation in our Beginning Stained Glass class that starts 9/30. Call to sign up!

Just for Fun!

Many of you have seen these fun, abstract creations hanging around the studio. Some have asked for a class, so here it is! This class is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to pouring, and is designed to be a teaser for future skills classes. All materials provided. We will go over set-up, mixing the paints, two pouring techniques, and sealing your work. Pieces will be available for pick-up the following Saturday. Space is limited, so reserve your spot now! We will provide all the glass, dichroic for the tips of the branches, and the lighting system. Also included is a formal syllabus, complete with pattern, so you can create more at home. PICTURE PERFECT CLOCK $75.00

Beginner

"Fun"ctional beauty! This self supporting fused glass clock project is perfect for desks, tables, and counter tops. For those of you who are interested in learning how to use "Photo Fusing Paper" to incorporate your own images into fused glass, this is the class for you. We will go over how to pick images, create a document, and print it using special fusing paper. We'll also talk about which printers work and which ones don't. This project is just the tip of the iceberg, designed to get your creative juices flowing! We will supply all materials and firing. You will need to send us small phrases, or simple clip art images in a word document, which we will print out for you. If your image is too detailed or has too much shading, we will let you know. The images produced by photo fusing paper are sepia tone, not black, so simple is better. You will do the glass artwork and apply your decals.

Saturday, October 28th @ 11:00

Class runs about two hours

GLASS AND CANVAS TREE $80.00

Just for Fun!

We will be using glass and canvas to create these wonderful three dimensional compositions. We will be working on a 9 X 12" canvas that we will pre-paint for you to save time. We did these backgrounds with an acrylic finger-painting technique. We added glass and other found items, and created a hi-gloss finish that stabilizes your artwork and looks like glass.

You will do the artwork by gluing your items onto the canvas, and we encourage you to bring any found items, buttons, jewelry, pebbles, beads, shells, coins, trinkets, etc, as embelishments.

We are including the pre-painted canvas, scrap glass, wiggles, beads, frit, glass globs, instruction, and we will pour your hi-gloss material after your glue dries. The project can be picked up the following Saturday. These projects were chosen so you will become familiar with the process, and have the confidence to do more elaborate works at home.

STAINED GLASS COMMUNITY THURSDAYS

$6.00/HOUR

3:00 UNTIL 7:00

Renewed interest in Stained Glass has convinced us that we should reinvent the "Open Studio" time that once was very popular.Currently, studio rental, or "bench time" is at the rate of $12 per hour and includes the use of the grinder and our bits, soldering iron, basic hand tools except your cutter, and working table space for projects no more than 11" x 17", or about 1.3 square feet. (Basically, it needs to be portable, as we don't have storage space.)Bench time is popular with customers that have made a few projects and want to enjoy the company of others that love stained glass and need practice, and a convenient space to work. Bench time does not include formal instruction (although we have been known to answer questions). We have been asking people to call for an appointment as we often teach private classes at unpredictable times and we can't talk over the grinders.Stained glass interest has been steadily increasing for a year or so now, and we have taught many classes to new glass fans. Students and intermediate glassers alike have been asking for some type of club or organization that we could host. So, we are going to change our class schedule to free up Thursday afternoons and evenings from 3:00 to 7:00 pm to host Stained Glass Community Day, at 50% off the hourly rate. Come and make new friends, be creative, and get inspired by the group.Note: You must have experience cutting, foiling and soldering glass to attend open studio. Please bring your pattern mounted on your homosote board in order to take advantage of your time!

Thursdays from 3:00 until 7:00

PRIVATE CLASSES AVAILABLE

Did you know that we offer private classes? For example, want to take our "Introduction to Fusing" class, but the dates just never work out? Give us a call and we'll try to schedule something that works for you. Most of our classes listed on our website can be taught privately.

OPEN STUDIO TIME / KILN RENTAL

Our Open Studio time on Tues, Wed and Fri has been a great success! Need to get some projects finished? Call us to schedule time between 12:30 and 4 and we will do our best to accommodate you! Pricing will vary based on the projects you choose.

Also remember, we rent out our kilns forthose of you who wantto make your pieces at home. The large oval is $100. Our smaller kilns are $35. Call to reserve akiln!

CREDIT CARD INFORMATION

I just wanted to let you know how much we appreciate all of you that have been paying with cash or check. Those of you that are in business for yourselves know that the credit card industry is changing out their cards to accept chip security protection, As a result, smallbusinesses like us are having to purchase really expensive machines, pay insurance and compliance fees, access fees, and also the swipe fees and percentage charges for every card, including debit cards.

The burden forsmall businesses is very high, in comparison to the larger, high volume big box retailers. Many of the largerretailers are just raising their prices, sometimes up to 5%, in order to mitigate allthe fees.

Any time you pay with cash or check, you help us hold pricing at current margin levels. Don't worry, for your convenience, we will continue to accept cards, but hope that you will think of us ahead of time. The more we reduce our merchant service fees, the longer we can hold prices. Thanks!

FACEBOOK

If you use Facebook please check us out. We post photos of interesting things, and great projects. Often our customers send us photos of some of their own designs, and we love to feature them.
