Critical Thinking Workshop
3rd Integral assessment: “Lesson plan applying Critical Thinking”
Summary:
This activity is in pairs. You will have to design a 90-minute lesson in which you will make sure your students apply critical thinking.
This handout must be fully completed and printed to hand in. Other files or links can be included, or attached to it.
Remember that at all times, your students should be applying critical thinking.
Objectives:
To apply concepts related to critical thinking as previously seen in class. To be creative in the construction of the reading lesson. To design a reading lesson using the 3 stages: pre-while and post.
Instructions:
Part 1: Planning. In this part of the project you will have to :
Recycle the unit plan created in the first test and correct it if necessary. Carry out a proper unit plan using Bloom’s taxonomies updated. Create objectives referred to each one of the activities included.
Part 2: Design. In this part of the project you will have to:
Decide on the material you will use in this “reading lesson”. Divide your lesson in three stages: “pre-while and post” (refer to this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?
v=NYH6X3f9PoU&list=PLwxoxJiVfNNeCfjRdj3KHfCWcCyq6Cd8c) Find an input for each of these stages:
o Pre: Choose a video related to your unit.
Link: _____________________________________________________________________
o While: Choose a text related to your unit (original).
Link: _____________________________________________________________________
o Post: (Not in this part)
1
Part 3: Create activities. In this part of the project you will have to:
Create a 5-question “True or False” activity for the video you chose. Ideally, this activity should be linked with the “while” stage, in terms of content and vocabulary (Pre)
Create a Reading comprehension activity with 5 or 8 open questions for the reading text you previously chose. Use the 7 universal standards for Critical Thinking questions (While).
Create 2 innovative and original activities to conclude the lesson. IMPORTANT: These activites will be based on 2 multiple intelligences of your choice. In this stage you will have to show your creativity and originality. Think of this… How am I going to make a difference as a teacher?

Dates:
Dec. 28: Drafting
Jan. 4: Classwork and feedback from the teacher.
Jan. 11: Deadline. Lesson is handed in, or previously sent.

LESSON PLAN
Plan a unit in which you must ensure students will apply critical thinking. In this plan, consider a title, a unit question, and a set of 3 objectives minimum based on Bloom’s Taxonomy adapted (attached). These objectives should be reached through the activities you will create.
UNIT
Grade: _____________ - Time: 90 minutes
Name of Unit: ____________________________________
Unit question (This question should include the 7 universal standards for critical thinking and it should be in first
person):
_______________________________________________________________________________________________
_______________________________________________________________________________________________
Objectives (Be consistent and refer to no more than 3 cognitive process dimensions in sequential order)
The student will be able to:
1. ________________________________________________________________________________________
2. ________________________________________________________________________________________
3. ________________________________________________________________________________________
Very briefly, explain what you want your students to learn in this unit and how you expect them to apply Critical Thinking throughout this process.
