2 How to travel to CMI

To get information about Prague public transport, use Googlemaps or DPP.cz

2.1 By air 

Transport from the airport:

2.1.1 TaxiPrice approximately 15 EUR to the city centre.

2.1.2 Shuttle bus Price approximately 11 EUR for 1 person.

2.1.3 Bus

There are bus stops at the Václav Havel Airport Praha and two possibilities

1. take the bus (special airport line) to the stop Hlavní nádraží (main train station), then cross to the metro (line C) and go to the stop Roztyly (direction Háje)

2. take the bus no. 119 and go to the stop Nádraží Veleslavín, then take the metro there and go to the stop Muzeum (line A, direction Depo Hostivař), in Muzeum cross to the metro line C and go to the stop Roztyly (direction Háje)

You have to bay one way ticket 32 CZK (which is approximately 1, 2 Eur) for 90 minutes and you have to validate the ticket at the first use in validator machine near entrance to the subway or inside bus/tram.

2.2 By train

If the participants arrive at the main train station (Hlavní Nádraží), they should take metro (line C, direction Háje) and go to the stop Roztyly.

You have to bay one way ticket 32 CZK (which is approximately 1, 2 Eur) for 90 minutes and you have to validate the ticket at the first use in validator machine near entrance to the subway or inside bus/tram.

Then walk approximately 10 minutes to CMI (see blue dashed line on the map).

4.2 Hotel between downtown and CMI site

You can use also 4**** hotel located on the way to CMI 200 meters from the Metro Station “Pankrac” and continue to venue place (CMI) by Metro (line C).

Metro Station “Pankrac” is situated 5 stops from the metro station Hlavní nádraží (main train station) and 3 stops from the stop Roztyly (direction Háje) – line C.

5 General travel information

5.1 CurrencyThe official currency is Czech crown (CZK). 1 EUR ~ 27 CZK. In many supermarkets and restaurants in downtown, you can pay in EUR (with adverse rate, usually). Credit cards are applicable in most restaurants and in nearly any shop.

5.2 Transportation

5.2.1 Public transportation systemIt is very common to use public transportation system. Only in rush-hours one can get delays up to 15 minutes on buses. Subway and trams are very precise. Googlemaps are very helpful in finding the right way.

Subway is operating from 5:00 am till 11:59 pm at least. Buses and trams operation time differs for each line. Few trams and buses are operating after midnight too.

Public transportation for 90 minutes costs 32 CZK. For 30 minutes about 24 CZK, 1 day (24 hours) 110 CZK, 3 days 310 CZK. You can swap lines anytime. You have to validate the ticket at first use in validator machine near entrance to the subway or inside bus/tram.

On bus stop at airport and at a few places in downtown you can find ticket machine for credit cards. Otherwise, you have to buy tickets at cash machines in subway stations or at tobacco shops (cash/credit card)

5.2.2  Taxi Official taxi from airport will get you anywhere in Prague for standard rate about 500 CZK (about 20 EUR). Rates per kilometre are from 16-30 CZK, boarding tax about 40 CZK, depending on taxi company.

5.2.3 Private car

5.2.3.1 HighwaysVignette for highways: buy in advance or at border in a shop/gas pump/post office. The price for cars up to 3.5 t is for 10 days 310 CZK, month 440 CZK, year 1500 CZK (prices for year 2017). Details at http://www.dalnicni-znamky.com/en/

5.2.3.2 Parking at PragueAround Prague are P+R with good and fast connection to downtown. For parking check signs and parking machines. Details about parking zones are at http://www.parkujvklidu.cz/prague-parking/ There are no EURO limits for driving car in downtown. At CMI Hvožďanská, there is free parking lot in front of gate or you can use few parking lots inside the CMI area.

5.2.4 Bike rentals It is not too much usual to use bikes in Prague, so there is not much special ways for bikers. You have to share roads with cars. In the case, that you prefer bike instead of walking, here is a shop nearest to subway station „Skalka“ (in walking distance):

It is opened from 10:30 till 19:30 during working days. The price is very roughly about 80 EUR per 9 days. You have to rent the bike in advance.

5.3   MealsIn Prague, cheapest meal (one dish) for lunch costs about 4-6 EUR, cheapest dinner meal (one dish) about 6-15 EUR.

5.4 WeatherPrague is the capital city of the Czech Republic and is situated on the Vltava river. The river runs from the north to south of the city, dividing the old town from the modern city we know it as today. The weather is somewhere between a humid continental climate and a typical oceanic climate with mild summers and very cold winters.

Prague weather in March begins to get warmer more pleasant as the month progresses. It’s still very cold and not great weather for sunbathing. The average temperature is around 5°C during the daytime with lows of 2°C at night. Daylight increases in March, rising to an average of 12 hours per day with six hours of sunshine.
