D.A.D. (Description. Action. Dialogue) Writing Task 3Use this picture to help you write a short story. You can follow this plan to help you.

Paragraph 1 – Begin with Dialogue – the words being shouted by the woman as the boy speeds past and steals the apple. Describe the action and setting too so we can picture the place and the boy’s journey off into the distance and out of sight.

Paragraph 2 – Describe the boy arriving back to his ‘home’ – you will need to decide where that is and what it looks like. Introduce who the boy lives with – this could be one member of his family (a sibling, parent or grandparent or perhaps just a pet). Describe how the boy shares and eats the apples he has stolen. Use dialogue with the family member to reveal why the boy has to steal to feed himself even though he has this magic carpet. This dialogue might be one sided if he is talking to a pet but you can still use it to explain the boy’s situation and how he feels. Use the reporting clauses to give details about both characters and their relationship.

Paragraph 3 – Suddenly the boy hears something – describe his panic as he realises that his ‘home’ has been discovered and that he is about to be caught for stealing. Use Description, Action and Dialogue as you explain who has found him, how he escapes, what he takes with him and how his family member (or pet) is captured.

Paragraph 4 – Describe the scene that night – the boy is now completely alone and has nowhere to live. Describe where he is now hiding, how he feels and what he fears about the future. You decide how to end this paragraph – What does he decide to do – Give himself up? Rescue his family member? Leave this place forever?......

This may be the end of your story – but if you wish to continue it….do!

Home Learning – French. 06/07/20Bonjour!

This week we are going to start with a little bit of research. ( Don’t worry as maybe just asking around your family will be enough.)It is important that when we learn a language we also learn something about the culture and traditions of that country too.If I say to you ‘national costume’, what do you think of? Have a look at the pictures on the sheets below - maybe these costumes were not quite what you were thinking of ! These costumes are all from regions of France so perhaps we should call them ‘regional costumes’. There is often a link to regional industries or activities just like the first picture which comes from Brittany which is famous for lace. Look at the ladies’ headdresses. Now for some research.... think about the UK and can you describe the national costumes for the 4 countries – England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland? This may be a little tricky!! Maybe you could do a little sketch in your books. When do you think people wear national/regional costume? Have you or your family any items of national costume?

The second activity this week is to think about French foods and can you think of 6 French foods we can buy here in the UK ? Challenge - if you can name 6 try naming 10. We have a surprising amount of French foods in our supermarkets. Check them out next time you go shopping.

Look at the Powerpoint looking at French breakfast. You can use the last slides to try and remember the French names. Try also to think about whether it is a ‘le’ word or a ‘la’ word. In your books please could you draw a French breakfast using these items. Colour them in and label them in French please.Thank you.

Enjoy your week!Au revoirMadame Howitt

PE from Mrs. Richardson - Week Beginning 06/07/20

I hope you all enjoyed playing Bingo last week and you achieved some gold medals?!This week we are going to focus on ball skills - Throwing and Catching.

Can you throw a ball to yourself by throwing up in the air and catching it again with 2 hands? Throw and catch 10 times then try to throw it higher and catch it 10 times. Repeat and try doing it using only one hand.  Extend to see how many times you can do it without dropping it and how high can you throw and catch without dropping it.

Throw under arm against a wall and catch with both hands. Start 5 steps away from the wall. Extend your arms and hands out and grab/ snatch it into your chest. Catch one handed as a challenge. If you drop it kneel down on one knee and repeat throw/catch. If you catch it stand up again if you drop it kneel on both knees and repeat throw catch. Can you try to take a step back after each successful throw and catch? How many steps away can you stand and successfully catch the ball?

Page 7:   · Web viewUsing your CGP Year . 5. English 10-Minute Weekly Workouts . book you should work through these pages. Do . use. your neatest join. ed. handwriting when completing all

Try these activities again but throwing over arm! Don’t throw too hard if you’re near the wall and remember to push from your shoulder as you throw the ball! Have fun practising with a family member or sibling too! If you go to a park or field try to see how far you can throw overarm accurately to someone else!

Fun challenge! Can you learn to juggle? Not only is it fun but it can also help brain function and memory - great for helping to remember all those important facts!  Try with 1 ball first and throw from hand to hand then try to use 2!! If you don’t have a ball for any of these activities roll up a piece of paper or socks which can be made a bit heavier by filling with rice! I’ve added a brilliant video to watch to help you learn to juggle - might be a great wet weather activity if the sun disappears for a while too!! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fk4-wLZMPno

Keep up with your Joe Wicks, Cosmic kids and getting out for walks, runs, bike rides or scooter rides! Have fun and keep smiling!Mrs Richardson.
