Chapter 1 – Week 1You will be given a visual problem, a problem that needs a solution. You will look at the nature of the problem, what is being asked of you, and how you are going resolve it and therefore find a solution to it.

You will research the problem through review and experimentation.

You will then analyse the results of your review and your experiments.

You will then detail what the solution is, both in words and practically.

You are going to sign up to Twitter and Instagram, follow as many relevant people and create as many # as you can think of.

You are going to produce a General Interactive Media Report, that looks at the curent state of Social Media today.

Problems & Solutionshttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CjixKHkQxA0&t=1478s

Analysis Time (20:42-22:48, 2:08 Minuets)

20:42-20:54

Straight away we are introduced to several characters but judging by the positions of the people the front three are the most important with the less important characters at the back. You can see that the teacher has a patronising demeaner in this scene as he is trying to teach somebody that has never played football before. On the other hand, the character on the left who is the main character (Who I will refer to as Stephen) in these scenes is standing looking very bored, almost as if he already knows how to play football and the teacher is just wasting his time. This is further shown when a MS is used to show Stephen not even looking at what the teacher is doing which shows that he is perhaps arrogant and has a lot of confidence.

20:54-21:01

Stephen then begins to run towards the stationary camera which shows the sheer pace that he is running, which makes the audience confused as the character of Stephen doesn’t like sports, but it turns out that he is good. We can now see Stephen is out of the frame and it now just shows the rest of the team standing there still with shocked expressions on their faces, this is reinforced using the steady-cam which starts as a WS of the teacher and then moves into a CU which shows how surprised he is.

21:01-21:09

The Steady-cam is used again in this first shot which shows the audience how quickly and skilfully he is moving away and around the opposition in the football match, during this shot Stephen is always in the middle of the shot and has a relaxed expression on this face making it look like he feels the game is too

Page 5: tompagesfilmandtv17.files.wordpress.com · Web viewUAL Diploma Creative Media Production. Student Name: Tom Page. Pathway: Film and TV Level 3. Figure 1: (Sergio Aguero, 2012 (FourFourTwo).

easy for him. In the next shot a pan is used to show how good Stephen’s footwork is around the football and how easily and effortless it is for him.

21:09-21:17

During these shots it shows CU’s of the rest of the team mates and crowd members reacting to Stephen scoring such a good goal, in addition to this these characters all have shocked expressions on their faces which reinforces my point about it being abnormal that Stephen is good at football.

21:17-21:29

The Steady-cam is used during these shots to show how happy the team were that they scored a goal as beforehand they were all nervous as many of them had never played football before. In my opinion the camera is meant to have some movement into it as it replicates what the players are doing which is jumping up and down just not as extranet.

21:52-21:59

The next shot shows that the teacher is saving the goals from going into the back of the net which shows that it’s not just Stephen that’s playing well but the teacher is playing well which shows that Stephen has motivated the team to play well. Then a Low angle shot is used to show the teacher standing up and celebrating about saving the goal which shows that he is getting more confident through the game.

22:28-22:48

These shots show Stephen scoring the last goal that equalises for the team which makes for an amazing comeback, it then shows Stephen celebrating with the rest of the team and then as the team disappear Stephen is doing hand stands on his own which shows that he is on his own to celebrate almost as if he did it all himself which is did. There is movement in these shots which maybe shows that it was shot from the perspective from a teammate as the camera is moving a little bit which would of probably of been filmed using the steady-cam.

Interactive Media Report

Interactive media is a form of communication in which the user can dictate what happens in that chosen media source, so the user’s inputs will affect the program’s outputs (Investopedia, n.d.).

Social media can be viewed as either a very good thing or bad thing however it all depends on who you ask, for example with the older generation some of which can be untrusting of more modern social media platforms. There’s always been some form of interactive media whether it be Facebook or listening to the radio. Social media is growing day by day with more people seeking to keep in touch with family and friends with more ease, the most popular social media platform is Facebook with about 2.07 billion users (Bennett, 2011) and these users are diverse with all age groups using Facebook. Although Social Media is a good way to keep in contact with other people it can also be used in negative ways with bullying for example. There have been increasing numbers in bullying in social media in recent years which is a very terrifying thought as some of these bullied victims have even amounted to suicide. The purpose of social media is to keep in contact with your friends however many younger people have hundreds of people on their friends lists despite them not knowing all of them, just ask yourself would you give your 400 friends on Facebook your number and your address? Social media does a brilliant job at connecting people to the rest of the world which can help with: finding a new job or looking for a new partner or friend just to name a few. In addition to this many debates happen on social media with people sharing their opinions and views about certain topics. An example of a past interactive media is the radio, the radio is not only used to broadcast music and debates but the interactive part in this is when the public can call into these shows and influence the outcome, for example if this is BBC radio 1 then the listeners can call/message in asking for music requests which makes it interactive.

Social Media Report

I signed up to both Twitter & Instagram as they are the most popular forms of social media in the media industry, the name I chose was @TomPageFilm as it was not only short, but it also will keep people thinking about my name which can be good for publicity. The other important part about these names is that it tells other users exactly what my twitter is about ‘Film/Filming’. I found it difficult at first to think of good hashtags that would get popular however I just decided to use words that described what my work was about, in addition to this I also used trending hashtags that applied to my work so that active users will be able to see my work. Following relevant people would be key to not only finding out more about the media industry but to also get other people to see my work, so I decided to follow people that were involved in tv shows and films that I like for example: Prison Break, Lost, Breaking Bad and Game of Thrones just to name a few. I haven’t just followed the actors that appeared in these films as I doubt they have any time to view my content however I did follow people that did all the behind the scenes stuff as they might be willing to view so of my videos. It is also very important to make an attractive looking profile otherwise other users won’t hang about, so I created a simple logo and banner which says exactly what this profile is about ‘Tom Page Films’.

Here are the links to my social media profiles:

Camera Movement Storyboard

I was instructed to make a storyboard which shows the use of different camera angles and most importantly shows camera movement, the story had to be created by ourselves.

How to add pictures, graphs, etc to your Table of Figures in your Portfolio

To make your portfolio even more professional than it already is, and to be correct, academically, you can add pictures, graphs etc to the already created Table of Figures.

This is how you do it …..

Add your picture/graph etc at the point you want it to be.

Right click on the picture/graph etc

Click on – Insert Caption

At the top of the box there is a line saying Caption

It will automatically tell you if it is Figure 1,2,3 etc – DO NOT ALTER THAT

Then put in the citation for the bibliography (after the Figure 1,2,3 ) and what you want to call it i.e. Focus Group Graph.

Click – Close

Remember to note the layout, so you do the same for each figure i.e.

Figure 1 : Hello Project – photo by myself

Figure 2 : Focus Group Graph

Figure 3 : (Fred, 2013) Green Screen Examples

Then go to the Table of Figures (at the bottom of the Contents Page at the front of the Portfolio)

Highlight it

Right click

And click on update field

Click on update whole Table ……. And it is done!
