Primarily based at Haywood Academy, or Trentham Academy, but working across the 5 Academies (based on 6 sites) that comprise the Trust. I am pleased to enclose an application form and further details. You may, if you wish, submit a CV with your application, but not instead of it. A large part of our success is attributed to the creation of a people- centred culture of care and support. The Trust prides itself for being at the forefront of educational developments and it is at an exciting time in its journey. Haywood Academy is the lead school of our successful Multi Academy Trust, and is a sponsor for other schools. Haywood Academy is based on three unique sites: a £10 million revamped 11-16 site in Burslem; and two refurbished iconic Victorian buildings (Burslem Old Town Hall, and the School of Art), which house our Post-16 Provision, City College. Trentham Academy is a single-site 11-16 school, with a newly built Learning Centre, based near Trentham Gardens. Indeed, the facilities at all of our sites are state-of-the-art. I cannot convey strongly enough what an amazing place City Learning Trust is to work, teach and learn in. Haywood Academy Background and Context:We are a popular 11 – 19 mixed Academy and Sixth Form Academy (City College) serving principally Burslem and parts of Tunstall in the north-eastern area of the City of Stoke on Trent. We currently have 1166 students on roll from a wide range of housing and socio-economic conditions, including some of the most deprived areas of Stoke on Trent. We cater for Higher Attainers, those from different minority ethnic backgrounds (22%) and those with special educational needs (14%). 40% of our students are disadvantaged.

Haywood Academy is the founder member of the City Learning Trust, a Multi Academy Trust, which encompasses four Academies across the age range of 3-19. We aim to create a world-class education system across our community of schools.

Our students love the opportunity to engage in our Excellence Academy, a unique education partnership between Haywood Academy, Cambridge, Oxford, Keele and Staffordshire Universities. Excellence Academy students take part in extra enrichment activities and extra classes with opportunities to visit and learn at university campuses. We will develop further these links in order to position students in the best place to excel in their onward education.

Trentham Academy Background and Context:Trentham Academy is a successful 11-16 Academy that provides high quality education for the young people of Trentham, and the surrounding area in Stoke-on-Trent. It is a popular and over subscribed Academy with approximately 750 students on roll. Between 11-16, each year group has 150 students on roll with 165 students accepted from September 2019 due to popularity. The Academy’s Sixth Form provision is part of the City Learning Trust’s City College and currently caters for Pre-Apprenticeship students based on site at Trentham Academy.

Job Description

Job Title: Site Support

Responsible To: CLT Director of Operations

Terms: Level 3 Scale Point 3 - 4 £18,065-£18,426 per annum 37 hours pw. Monday - Friday. Whole Year.

Location: Working Primarily at Haywood Academy or Trentham Academy, but you may be required to work at any of our 6 sites as/when required. So, flexibility is required and own transport is essential - and travelling expenses will be paid, where applicable, for travel to other sites away from the main designated site (to be agreed ast interview).

Hours: Working 20 hours per week, although you may be required to work more hours on occasion – for which you would receive time off in lieu, or additional pay. Hours will generally be worked between 7am-6pm, which are the standard opening times for the CLT Academies, but on occasion you may be required to start earlier, or finish later, depending upon operational requirements. On a rare occasion you may also be required to work at a weekend. Consequently, flexibility is essential.

Main Purpose of the Job:

To work under the direction and instruction of senior staff to provide routine cleaning and/or caretaking tasks to support the effective operation of the Academies in the Trust. The main duties are set out below, for which appropriate training will be given. Any offer of employment will be subject to a satisfactory Enhanced DBS check and appropriate references and prohibition checks.

Security & Safety: Unlock and secure premises at agreed times and maintain the key(s) in their possession for emergency call-out.

Check that the heating and lighting systems are operating satisfactorily and checking their efficiency.

Check fire and/or security alarms are working satisfactorily. Ensure that premises are in a safe, tidy and satisfactory condition prior to

use. In the morning this will normally require attendance until a member of staff arrives.

Maintain vigilance for Health and Safety concerns in and around the building, for an example -checking fire doors and external steps

Completion of site safety checklists and records.

Maintenance & Cleaning:

Dispose of such waste materials arising from the use of the premises as are not covered by alternative arrangements.

Replace such consumables on the premises in appropriate locations as

are not covered by alternative arrangements, e.g. toilet rolls, soap, towels, etc.

Clean designated areas not covered by alternative arrangements, e.g. outside areas, car parks, drains, boiler house, stores etc. This may include cleaning up after break and lunch times.

To arrange to clear blockages, remove foreign matter from sinks, toilets, drains, and clean up spillages as required.

Repairs around site which aren’t covered under the PFI programme.

Resources: General portage and collection activities. To maintain appropriate records. To report emergencies in the case of

faults with gas, electric and water supply to the appropriate person, and report minor faults on site to the building contractor Engie.

To attend, where necessary, to personnel visiting the site such as contractors, representatives of utilities (gas, electric) and any other relevant external personnel.

Minibus driving requirement once trained/assessed.

Academy Support: This list is not exhaustive and should reflect the ethos of the specific Academy where working:

Promote and safeguard the welfare of children and young persons you are responsible for or come into contact with.

Be aware of and comply with policies and procedures relating to child protection, health, safety and security, confidentiality and data protection, reporting all concerns to an appropriate person.

Be aware of, support and ensure equal opportunities for all. Contribute to the overall ethos/work/aims of the Academy. Appreciate and support the role of other professionals. Attend and participate in relevant meetings as required. Participate in training and other learning activities and performance

development as required. Assist with pupil needs as appropriate during the Academy day. To be first aid trained and provide first aid support for the Academy. To support visits by driving the Academy minibus as required.
