JOB DESCRIPTION The HBO Digital & Social Media Fellowship Program is a 12-month, early-career incubator designed to identify today’s creative, entry-level professionals and turn them into tomorrow’s cutting-edge digital marketers. The Program is not an internship but rather a professional development initiative intended to jumpstart the careers of up-and-coming professionals in digital marketing’s various disciplines via education, talent development, networking and cross-discipline training. Through a rotation of hands-on assignments, Fellows will be immersed in HBO’s fast-growing and ever-changing digital space with an eye toward fostering the next generation of best-in-class digital strategists, marketers, creators, acquisition and retention specialists, producers, writers and designers. Fellows will rotate through four of six HBO Digital & Social Media teams during the year-long program, gaining exposure to the constellation of marketing television—from campaign and content strategy through to content creation, production and promotion—across the network’s variety of digital platforms. During each placement, each Fellow will shadow their direct manager, learning the ins and outs of the digital creative process while executing tasks with escalating complexity. Raw, creative talent—and a desire to jump into the thick of the digital marketing world—is required, but those new to and exploring the digital marketing are encouraged to apply. The Program will familiarize Fellows with the space’s intricacies, demanding participation in all aspects.

Social Marketing: Responsible for setting digital strategy for HBO series; relationship management with executives and talent; launching and maintaining social profiles.Content Marketing: This group takes digital strategy and morphs it into a content strategy across all platforms, refining content from concept to delivery.Acquisition, CRM & Retention: Focuses on acquiring new subscribers—and retaining those already subscribing—to HBO NOW, via a variety of tactics, communication methods and user experiences in the streaming product.Production: Execution of everything: building websites, managing budgets and approvals, setting workflows and much, much more.

Fellows are individuals who have:a Bachelor’s degreeless than 3 years of postgraduate professional work experiencea strong desire to pursue a creative career in digital and social mediadeep understanding of behaviors and content on established and emerging social, digital and streaming platformsa familiarity (and, ideally, love of) HBO programming and entertainmentdemonstrated leadership potential, self-starting characteristics, an entrepreneurial spirit, problem-solving skills and critical thinkinghunger to learn and collaborate cross-functionally and channel creative energy into a variety of outletstangible proof of a love for the digital space

 Key responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

ideating on all aspects of digital campaignscompiling competitive analysis, insights and researchcreating, managing and/or formatting strategy and campaign decks or other documentscommunity management on all types of digital platformswriting for content across platforms, including social, websites, blogs and streamingcontent creation across all digital mediums and platformsworking in project management systemsbreaking down scripts to summarize story or pull key momentssupporting production by coordinating asset requestspresenting ideas to a variety of different internal groups

Fellows are paid with benefits and will be uniquely positioned for consideration within HBO’s talent pipeline.
