El Verbo Ser

Ser is an irregular verb in Spanish meaning it has irregular conjugations. In English the verb “to be” is irregular. It conjugates like this:

I am We areYou areHe/ she/ it is They/You all are

In Spanish the verb “ser” means “to be.” It is irregular too. You have to memorize the forms and their meanings. The conjugations are:

I am yo soy we are nosotros somos

You are tú eres

He is él, es They (m) are Ellos sonShe is Ella, es They (f) are ellas sonYou are Ud. es You all are Uds. Son

Instructions and Grading:Using the verb Ser which means to be write someone a valentine. This doesn’t have to be a romantic Valentine and can be written to a friend, significant other, parent, teacher, etc. If you do not want to create a real valentine you have the option of creating a fake one to an imaginary person as long as you complete all the requirements!

The Valentine must have a greeting, three sentences using ser, and a parting or salutation.

The entire Valentine must be written in Spanish!

For example you could write (except your Valentine is in Spanish):

Dear Paco,You are nice and interesting.You are tall and handsome.

You are my sweetheart.Happy Valentine’s Day.

Usage of Ser and Adjectives

At least 3 sentences are present and use the verb ser with relevant adjectives

At least 2 sentences are present or 3 sentences present but not using ser.

At least one sentence is present using ser.

There is no use of the verb ser in the project.

Introduce instructions of creating a Valentine. Pass out the heart with lines and have students create a rough draft valentine. Once they are done check over the valentine for grammar/spelling errors. Once the Valentine is checked student can then create Valentine using construction paper.
