Sustainable development of the rainforest.

Brazil has the 2nd longest river in the world, the Amazon, and the largest rainforest, the Amazon Rainforest. In this unit you have learnt a lot about the Rainforest, its plants and animals and its people.

We understand what the effects of deforestation are and how this causes the rainforest to be altered forever.

There is another way; Sustainable Development.

Your final task for this unit will be to create a presentation about what sustainable development looks like in the Amazon and how it helps people, the environment and Brazil.

Success Criteria:

You will choose to create a PP presentation on ONE of the following areas ~

Conservation of animalsSustainable palm oil

Make sure your presentation includes the following:

A definition of what sustainable development means. You need to understand it so put it into your own words.

The problem, so what impacts does deforestation have on animals, either in general or one specific species OR what impact does unsustainable palm oil production have on the rainforest. ( you should include 3 problems)

The solution, so what is being done in an area to try to mend the damage? Can you give specific examples and or show them on a map? (you should include 3 solutions, not necessarily different areas, just parts of the same solution)

Your evaluation, in other words, do YOU think the solution is effective? What is good about it? Wat could be better?

You have until the end of the Easter break to complete this project.
