Monday, Week One

Numbers 6:24–26

May God bless you and protect you! May God deal kindly and graciously with you! May God bestow His favour upon you and grant you peace.

Matthew 5:2-12

Then Jesus began to speak, and taught them, saying: Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted. Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth. Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled. Blessed are the merciful, for they will receive mercy. Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God. Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God. Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are you when people revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely on my account. Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is great in heaven.

Sûrah 2, Al-Baqarah Part 3

208 O you who believe! Enter perfectly into Islām1 (by obeying all the rules and regulations of the religion of Islam) and follow not the footsteps of Shaitān (Satan). Verily, he is to you a plain enemy.

Tuesday, Week One

Psalm 122:6-9

Pray for the peace of Jerusalem; may those who love you be at peace. May there be peace within your ramparts, calm within your citadels. For the sake of my kin and friends, I pray for your peace; for the sake of the house of the Lord your God, I seek your good.

Matthew 5:14-16

You are the light of the world. A city built on a hill cannot be hidden. No one after lighting a lamp puts it under the bushel basket, but on the lampstand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father in heaven.

John 14: 27

Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled, and do not let them be afraid.

Sûrah 24. An-Nûr Part 18

54. Say: obey Allāh and obey the Messenger (*), but if you turn away he, (Messenger Muhammad *) s only responsible for the duty placed upon him (i.e. to convey Allāh’s Message) and you for that placed on you. If you obey him, you shall be on the right guidance. The Messenger’s duty is only to convey (the message) in a clear way (i.e. to preach in a plain way.)”

Psalm 119:165 Great peace to those who love Your Torah; they encounter no adversity.

Matthew 6:9-15

Pray in this way:Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come.Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And do not bring us to the time of trial, but rescue us from the evil one. For if you forgive others their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you; but if you do not forgive others, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.

Thursday, Week One

Isaiah 55:11-12

So is the word which issues from My mouth: It does not come back to Me unfulfilled, but performs what I purpose, achieves what I sent it to do. Yeah, you leave in joy and be led home in peace. Before you, mountains and hills shall shout aloud, and all the trees of the field shall clap their hands.

Matthew 11:26-30

I thank you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and the intelligent and have revealed them to infants; Yes, Father, for such was your gracious will.

All things have been handed over to me by my Father; and no one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and anyone to whom the Son chooses to reveal him. Come to me, all you that are weary and are carrying heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me; for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.’

Sûrah 2, Al-Baqarah Part 2

256 There is no compulsion in religion. Verily, the Right Path has become distinct from the wrong path.

Friday, Week One

Leviticus 26:3-6

If you follow My laws and faithfully observe My commandments, I will grant your rains in their season, so that the earth shall yield its produce and the trees of the field their fruit. Your threshing shall overtake the vintage, and your vintage shall overtake the sowing; you shall eat your fill of bread and dwell securely in your land. I will grant peace in the land, and you shall lie down untroubled by anyone; I will give the land respite from vicious beasts, and no sword shall cross your land.

Matthew 13:44-49a

The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field, which someone found and hid; then in his joy he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field. Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant in search of fine pearls; on finding one pearl of great value, he went and sold all that he had and bought it. Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a net that was thrown into the sea and caught fish of every kind; when it was full, they drew it ashore, sat down, and put the good into baskets but threw out the bad. So it will be at the end of the age. The angels will come out and separate the evil from the righteous.

Sûrah 36 Yâ-Sîn Part 23

55. Verily, the dwellers in Paradise, that Day, will be busy with joyful things.

56. They and their wives will be in pleasant shade, reclining on thrones.

57. They will have therein fruits (of all kinds) and all that they ask for.

58. (It will be said to them: ) Salām (peace be on you)—a Word from the Lord (Allāh), Most Merciful.

Saturday, Week One

Psalm 37:37

Mark the blameless, note the upright, for there is a future for a person of peace.

Matthew 18:1-5

At that time the disciples came to Jesus and asked, Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?’ He called a child, whom he put among them, and said, Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Whoever becomes humble like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. Whoever welcomes one such child in my name welcomes me.

Sûrah 40. Ghâfir Part 24

Say, (O Muhammad *): “I have been forbidden to worship those whom you worship besides Allāh, since there have come to me evidences from my Lord; and I am commanded to submit (in Islām) to the Lord of the ‘Ālamīn (mankind, jinn, and all that exists).

Sûrah 25 Al-Furqân Part 19

63 And the (faithful) slaves of the Most Gracious (Allāh) are those who walk on the earth in humility and sedateness, and when the foolish address them (with bad words) they reply back with mild words of gentleness.

Psalm 120:6-7

Too long have I dwelt with those who hate peace. I am all peace; but when I speak, they are for war.

Luke 1:46-55 (Mary’s Prayer)

My soul magnifies the Lord, and my spirit rejoices in God my Saviour, for he has looked with favour on the lowliness of his servant. Surely, from now on all generations will call me blessed; for the Mighty One has done great things for me,and holy is his name. His mercy is for those who fear himfrom generation to generation. He has shown strength with his arm;he has scattered the proud in the thoughts of their hearts. He has brought down the powerful from their thrones, and lifted up the lowly; he has filled the hungry with good things, and sent the rich away empty. He has helped his servant Israel,in remembrance of his mercy, according to the promise he made to our ancestors,to Abraham and to his descendants for ever.’

Sûrah 19 Maryam Part 16

33. “And Salām (peace) be upon me on the day I was born, and the day I die, and the day I shall be raised alive!”

Such is ‘Isā (Jesus) son of Maryam (Mary). (It is) a statement of truth about which they doubt (or dispute).

And He said unto Abram: “Know well that your offspring shall be strangers in a land not theirs, and they shall be enslaved and oppressed four hundred years; but I will execute judgment on the nation they shall serve, and in the end they shall go free with great wealth. As for you, you shall go to your fathers in peace; you shall be buried at a ripe old age.”

Luke 2:29-32:

Tuesday, Week Two

(Deuteronomy 20:10-12)

When you approach a town to attack it, you shall offer it terms of peace. If it responds peaceably and lets you in, all the people present there shall serve you at forced labour. If it does not agree to peace, but will go to war against you, you shall lay siege to it.

Luke 6:27-36

I say to you that listen, Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who abuse you. If anyone strikes you on the cheek, offer the other also; and from anyone who takes away your coat do not withhold even your shirt. Give to everyone who begs from you; and if anyone takes away your goods, do not ask for them again. Do to others as you would have them do to you. If you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners love those who love them. If you do good to those who do good to you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners do the same.

Sûrah 36 Yâ-Sîn Part 22

13. And put forward to them a similitude; (the story of) the Dwellers of the Town [it is said that the town was Antioch (Antākiya)], when there came Messengers to them.

14. When We sent to them two Messengers, they denied them both; so We reinforced them with a third, and they said to them, “Verily, we have been sent to you as Messengers.”

15. They (the people of the town) said: “You are only human beings like ourselves, and the Most Gracious (Allāh) has revealed nothing. You are only telling lies.”

16. The Messengers said, “Our Lord knows that we have been sent to you as Messengers,

17. “And our duty is only to convey plainly (the Message.)”

Wednesday, Week Two

Isaiah 48:22

There is no peace, says the Lord, for the wicked.

Luke 10:30b-37

Jesus said, A man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell into the hands of robbers, who stripped him, beat him, and went away, leaving him half dead. Now by chance a priest was going down that road; and when he saw him, he passed by on the other side. So likewise a Levite, when he came to the place and saw him, passed by on the other side. But a Samaritan while travelling came near him; and when he saw him, he was moved with pity. He went to him and bandaged his wounds, having poured oil and wine on them. Then he put him on his own animal, brought him to an inn, and took care of him. The next day he took out two denarii, gave them to the innkeeper, and said, “Take care of him; and when I come back, I will repay you whatever more you spend.” Which of these three, do you think, was a neighbour to the man who fell into the hands of the robbers?’ The man replied, ‘The one who showed him mercy.’ Jesus said to him, ‘Go and do likewise.’

Sûrah 6, Al-An’âm Part 7

54 When those who believe in Our Ayāt (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) come to you, say: “Salāmun ‘Alaikum” (peace be on you); your Lord has written (prescribed) Mercy for Himself, so that if any of you does evil in ignorance, and thereafter repents and does righteous good deeds (by obeying Allāh), then surely, He is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.

Thursday, Week Two

Isaiah 32:17

For the work of righteousness shall be peace, and the effect of righteousness, calm and confidence forever.

Luke: 12:22-34

Jesus said to his disciples, Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat, or about your body, what you will wear. For life is more than food, and the body more than clothing.2

Consider the ravens: they neither sow nor reap, they have neither storehouse nor barn, and yet God feeds them. Of how much more value are you than the birds!2

And can any of you by worrying add a single hour to your span of life?2

If then you are not able to do so small a thing as that, why do you worry about the rest?2

Consider the lilies, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin; yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not clothed like one of these.2

But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which is alive today and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, how much more will he clothe you—you of little faith!2

And do not keep striving for what you are to eat and what you are to drink, and do not keep worrying.3

For it is the nations of the world that strive after all these things, and your Father knows that you need them.Instead, strive for his kingdom, and these things will be given to you as well.

Sûrah 6, Al-An’âm Part 7

107. Had Allāh willed, they would not have taken others besides Him in worship. And We have not made you a watcher over them nor are you a Wakīl (disposer of affairs, guardian or trustee) over them.

Proverbs 17:1

Better a dry crust with peace than a house full of feasting with strife.

Luke 14:8-11

When you are invited by someone to a wedding banquet, do not sit down at the place of honour, in case someone more distinguished than you has been invited by your host; and the host who invited both of you may come and say to you, “Give this person your place”, and then in disgrace you would start to take the lowest place. But when you are invited, go and sit down at the lowest place, so that when your host comes, he may say to you, “Friend, move up higher”; then you will be honoured in the presence of all who sit at the table with you. For all who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.’

Surah 10 Yūnus Part 11

Isaiah 57:18-19

I note how they fare and will heal them: I will guide them and mete out solace to them, and to the mourners among them heartening, comforting words: peace, peace to the far and the near, said the Lord, and I will heal them.

Luke 24:28-35

As the disciples came near the village to which they were going, Jesus walked ahead as if he were going on. But they urged him strongly, saying, ‘Stay with us, because it is almost evening and the day is now nearly over.’ So he went in to stay with them. When he was at the table with them, he took bread, blessed and broke it, and gave it to them. Then their eyes were opened, and they recognized him; and he vanished from their sight. They said to each other, ‘Were not our hearts burning within us while he was talking to us on the road, while he was opening the scriptures to us?’ That same hour they got up and returned to Jerusalem; and they found the eleven and their companions gathered together. They were saying, ‘The Lord has risen indeed, and he has appeared to Simon!’ Then they told what had happened on the road, and how he had been made known to them in the breaking of the bread.

Sûrah 33. Al-Ahzâb Part 22

56. Allāh sends his Salāt (Graces, Honours, Blessings, Mercy)on the Prophet (Muhammad *), and also His angels (ask Allāh to bless and forgive him). O you who believe! Ecclesiastes 3:1-8

A season is set for everything, a time to every experience under the heaven. A time for  being born and a time for dying; a time for planting and a time for uprooting the planted; a time for slaying and a time for healing; a time for tearing down and a time for  building up; a time for weeping and a time for laughing; a time for wailing and a time for  dancing; a time for throwing stones and a time for gathering stones; a time for embracing and a time for shunning embraces; a time for seeking and a time for losing; a time for keep and a time for discarding; a time for ripping and a time for sewing; a time for silence and a time for speaking; a time for loving and a time for hating; a time for war and a time for peace.

John 1:1-5, 16

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things came into being through him, and without him not one thing came into being. What has come into being in him was life, and the life was the light of all people. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not overcome it. From his fullness we have all received, grace upon grace.

Sûrah 60 Al-Mumtahanah Part 28

Psalm 4:8

Safe and sound I lie down and sleep: for You alone, O Lord, keep me secure.

John 10:11-16a

‘I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep. The hired hand, who is not the shepherd and does not own the sheep, sees the wolf coming and leaves the sheep and runs away—and the wolf snatches them and scatters them. The hired hand runs away because a hired hand does not care for the sheep. I am the good shepherd. I know my own and my own know me, just as the Father knows me and I know the Father. And I lay down my life for the sheep. I have other sheep that do not belong to this fold. I must bring them also, and they will listen to my voice. So there will be one flock, one shepherd.

Psalm 29:11

May the Lord grant strength to His people; may the Lord bless his people with peace.

John 13:5, 12-17

After supper, he poured water into a basin and began to wash the disciples’ feet and to wipe them with the towel that was tied around him. After he had washed their feet, had put on his robe, and had returned to the table, he said to them, “Do you know what I have done to you? You call me Teacher and Lord—and you are right, for that is what I am. So if I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another’s feet. For I have set you an example, that you also should do as I have done to you. Psalm 37:9-11

For the evil will be cut off, but those who look to the Lord, they shall inherit the land. A little longer and there shall be no wicked person; you will look at where he was – he will be gone. But the lowly shall inherit the land; and delight in abundant peace.

Romans 8:14-17

All who are led by the Spirit of God are children of God. For you did not receive a spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you have received a spirit of adoption. When we cry, ‘Abba! Father!’ it is that very Spirit bearing witness with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, then heirs, heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ—if, in fact, we suffer with him so that we may also be glorified with him.

Psalm 34:14-15

Guard your tongue from evil, your lips from deceitful speech. Shun evil and do good; seek peace and pursue it.

Romans 12:9-21

Let love be genuine; hate what is evil, hold fast to what is good; love one another with mutual affection; outdo one another in showing honour. Do not lag in zeal, be ardent in spirit, serve the Lord. Rejoice in hope, be patient in suffering, persevere in prayer. Contribute to the needs of the saints; extend hospitality to strangers.

Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse them. Rejoice with those who rejoice, weep with those who weep. Live in harmony with one another; do not be haughty, but associate with the lowly; do not claim to be wiser than you are. Do not repay anyone evil for evil, but take thought for what is noble in the sight of all. If it is possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all.

Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave room for the wrath of God; for it is written, “Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord.”No, “If your enemies are hungry, feed them; if they are thirsty, give them something to drink;or by doing this you will heap burning coals on their heads.’ Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

Sûrah 39. Az-Zumar. Part 24

41. Verily, We have sent down to you (O Muhammad *) the book (this Qur’ān) for mankind in truth. So whoever accepts the guidance, it is only for his ownself; and whoever goes astray he goes astray only to his (own) loss. Friday, Week Three

Proverbs 3:1-2

My son, do not forget my teaching, but let your mind retain my commandments; for they will bestow on you length of days, years of life and peace.

1 Corinthians 13:1-13

If I speak in the tongues of mortals and of angels, but do not have love, I am a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. And if I have prophetic powers, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. If I give away all my possessions, and if I hand over my body so that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing.

Love is patient; love is kind; love is not envious or boastful or arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice in wrongdoing, but rejoices in the truth. It bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never ends. But as for prophecies, they will come to an end; as for tongues, they will cease; as for knowledge, it will come to an end. For we know only in part, and we prophesy only in part; but when the complete comes, the partial will come to an end.

Sûrah 56 Al-Wâqi-ah Part 27

25. No Laghw (dirty, false, evil vain talk) will they hear therein, nor any sinful speech (like backbiting).

26. Only the saying of Salām! Salām! (greetings with peace)!

Jeremiah 6:14

They offer healing offhand for the wounds of My people, saying, “peace, peace,” when there is no peace.

2 Corinthians 4:16-5:2

So we do not lose heart. Even though our outer nature is wasting away, our inner nature is being renewed day by day. For this slight momentary affliction is preparing us for an eternal weight of glory beyond all measure, because we look not at what can be seen but at what cannot be seen; for what can be seen is temporary, but what cannot be seen is eternal. Sunday, Week Three

Psalms 125:5

Do good, O Lord, to the good, to the upright in heart. But those who in their crookedness act corruptly, let the Lord make them go the way of evildoers. Peace be upon Israel.

Colossians 1:9b-13 ...We have not ceased praying for you and asking that you may be filled with the knowledge of God’s will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, so that you may lead lives worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to him, as you bear fruit in every good work and as you grow in the knowledge of God. May you be made strong with all the strength that comes from his glorious power, and may you be prepared to endure everything with patience, while joyfully giving thanks to the Father, who has enabled you to share in the inheritance of the saints in the light. He has rescued us from the power of darkness and transferred us into the kingdom of his beloved Son.

Sûrah 43 Az-Zukhruf Part 25

88. And Allāh has the knowledge of (Prophet Muhammad’s *) saying, “O my Lord. Verily, these are a people who believe not!”

89. So turn away from them (O Muhammad *), and say Salām! (peace)! But they will come to know.
