Rain Rain Go Away

On the left is a photo of some of the team fording a river to take supplies to the Mangyan tribe on the mountain. This is how the river is in the dry season and thus easy to cross. There are such rivers to cross to on the way. They are not passable now as it has rained an average 0f 23 days a month each month since May. This makes the rivers deep and rushing with great force. Sadly it is not possible to cross them when they are like this and so outreach to the tribe has had to stop for now. Pray for the ability to return to the tribe soon.

A Mountain of Paperwork

Since we can’t go up the mountain God gave us a mountain of paperwork to fill the rainy days. The Mangyan tribe that we to down in the low lands was not recognized as citizens of the Philippines. As such it is always a battle to register the children for school or avail of other government services. Glenda and Eduard took on the task of completing all the documentation to get the members of the tribe their citizenship. Praise God, it has all been completed. This also opens the way for the couples to be legally married. On October 16 there will be a wedding of 12 couples!

Happy Mangyans showing their

citizenship papers.

House of Love and Compassion

Things are going well at HLC. Kim is able to print now. It is wiggly but can be read. Here you see him happy to play the part of a tree in the school play. One evening at prayer meeting Kim said he wanted to be a pastor. When asked to who he said, “To people like me”. That is great!

Give me an H give me an L give me a C.

Who says you need legs that work to be a cheerleader? Here is five year old Gelai getting to be a cheerleader at the annual Sports fest held on the compound.

Hands Free Walking

Carlo came to HLC unable to walk as a result of an injury. It has been a long road for him but through support given to our ministry Carlo was able to have surgery and a long term of PT that has resulted in him being able to walk again! After the surgery he used a walker for a long time but now he is free of the need for that. Although he has a slight limp and won’t make the PBA (the Philippines equivalent of the NBA) Carlo can often be found on the basketball court using those free hands to shoot baskets.

Please Help

We are praying for 40 people to consistently give $20.00 a month to help in supporting the operation of the House of Love and Compassion. Please pray with us regarding this and pray for the children who will be ministered to. You may also designate your support for one of the other aspects of our ministry presented in this prayer letter.

If you feel led to help please use the form on the next page to help to send your gift.

Disability Does Not Stop Her

Although Judy can no longer walk she is still serving as a key part of our ministry. She encourages the Filipino women and provides solid Bible studies. She keeps Dick organized and uses her medical skills as much as ever. In 1999 God used Judy to save the lives of an entire class of Missionary Kids on Mindanao. They had a life threatening illness form parasites that was misdiagnosed and thus being treated in the wrong way. Judy saw it for what it was and started the proper treatment thus saving the kids. She has been using her medical knowledge for the Filipinos ever since. Not a week goes by that she is not guiding the women on the field as to how to treat the many health issues that they encounter in the people they are ministering to.

Farmland Acquired!

We were able to put together the funds to purchase the farm for a livelihood project on time. Thanks to support sent in during September plus funds used from our general account the goal was reached. The decision to use the funds from the general account was based on the commitment of a person for funds that are yet to come. Please pray that this happens soon.

Now both the primitive Mangyans and the modern day Tagalogs will be able to provide food for their needs and sell crops to fund the ministry needs of the churches as well as help pay for medical costs when the need arises.
