Catholicism Traditional Clothing

In the Catholic tradition Catholics must wear traditional clothes that are different coloured.

Religious LeadersReligious leaders must wear special clothes. Nuns only wear black and white and Monks don’t wear shoes. The pope wears a special hat during ceremonies and the priests wear robes while praying. Tunics are worn as a form of religious life.

Vestments Priest wear vestments during special occasions. The colour of the vestment depends on the season. Green vestments are for everyday use, white vestments are for joyful times, purple vestments are for mournful days and red vestments symbolize blood and are worn during services.

WomenWomen also have certain clothing to like they must wear a veil on their head. They also must try to wear white to show purity.

GodCatholics believe in God. They worship God in church and practice talking to him. When they do, they ask God for advice or guidance.

PrayersUsually Catholics say prayers. They say these in the morning or night. They also say Grace before eating meals as a prayer.

BibleCatholics read the Bible. They sing songs from the Bible to praise God. They also read from it to talk to God.

Holy WaterThe holy water is a small dish of water that you see when you enter a church. You dip your fingers in the holy water and make a cross on you head or chest with the water.

ConfessionConfession is when God decides to forgive you, to get rid of sins.

Rosary BeadsRosary beads are a special form of devotion. They also use these as a special form of praying. On the necklace each bead means a different prayer.

EurachistThis is when Catholics re-enact the last supper. Catholics do this to remember Jesus.

Catholics Religious PracticeThere are many ways Catholics practice their religion and these are just the ones I know about, God, Certain prayers, Their Bibles the Holy Water, Baptism, Rosary beads, Confession and Eurachist.

BaptismBaptism is important to Catholics because it is marking the start of church membership. Baptism is done to get rid of sins. What happens to an infant during baptism is water is poured over their head. For adult baptism they are completely covered in water.
