Lore Original History Within Finnish folktale, the Aurora Borealis is said to be a fox sweeping its tale across the snow below and spraying up into sky, causing the magnificent Aurora across the entire sky. The constellations within the sky are quite commonly animals (majority of them are animals, e.g. Ursa, Taurus, Pisces etc) The Lapps , who were a close relative of the Finns, believed that the Aurora were the energies of the departed and was treated with great respect when it did appear in the sky, with the failure to meet this respect being punished with bad fortune which may have resulted in sickness or even death. Furthermore, they believed it to also have magical effects and their shamans often had runes depicting the Aurora fires in order to harness their power at these vital times. It was believed that the times of the Aurora were a good time in order to bring conflicts to their resolutions. They also had a belief if you whistled under the Northern Lights, you could beckon them closer and they could whisk you way with them into the night sky.

LoreOriginal History

Within Finnish folktale, the Aurora Borealis is said to be a fox sweeping its tale across the snow below and spraying up into sky, causing the magnificent Aurora across the entire sky. The constellations within the sky are quite commonly animals (majority of them are animals, e.g. Ursa, Taurus, Pisces etc)

The Lapps , who were a close relative of the Finns, believed that the Aurora were the energies of the departed and was treated with great respect when it did appear in the sky, with the failure to meet this respect being punished with bad fortune which may have resulted in sickness or even death.

Setting -Finland, winter, snowy, pine trees

Story: -Character falls into the Cave , on their way down the mirror or some similar object is broken which then causes the shards to reflect and refract the light from the shaft, dazzling the area in light and showing the reflection mechanic. Walls are covered in tribal paintings/carvings of the constellations found in the sky and a depiction of the Fox ‘spraying’ the aurora up into the sky. The character finds themselves in a chamber with a closed door, the shaft of light going down onto the centre of the room. A light beam is reflected by one of

the shards of the mirror into the door, opening it for the player to proceed highlighting that you advance by ‘transporting’ the light towards the doors found in this place.

Character enters the next chamber in which a sphere rests in the centre, and upon approaching and interacting with it, it begins to glow in the colours of the Aurora (blue, green, magenta) and the first level begins with the first constellation. (Optionally, if the time is there for it the sphere can instead be an armillary sphere that spins up once the character touches it and it will act as the source of the beam instead).

First level is the Corvus constellation upon completing ‘releases’ the narrator in the form of the Crow/Raven and it begins the narrate the journey of the character from there. Narrator recounts the narrative/story of the game in the past tense as if it were a distant memory.

Along the game, majority of the exposition on the story and the lore that it comes from it mostly through the narrator, who may talk about and describe what the place is, the importance of the constellations and the importance of the Aurora itself.

Lighthouse is lit up and either the Aurora is painted across the sky or the ‘fox’ within is woken up and is confused however soon flies off into the sky and paints the Aurora along the sky with its tail alongside all the constellations that the character has completed.

Script

Corvus:- Wise, Asshole bird. Too smart for his own good, respects you but doesn’t ‘really’.

‘It's about time someone showed up, and who else would it be but Aurora. It has been too long you sly little thing. ’

‘Come now, do you not remember what you need to do? ...No time to waste, now is there?’

[awkward pause]

‘...Are you just going to... stand there? You really don’t remember do you?’

‘Again? You’ve lost your memories again? Why do I even bother putting up with this anymore after all these years...’

‘Better get going then, introduce yourself to Ursa why won't you, it's not like it’s the third time... this century’

Ursa:- Kind ‘protector’ bear.

‘Oh, you’ve come! What a pleasant surprise. ‘

Leo:- Royalty, egotistical

‘Finally, you’ve arrived to do your duty. Aurora.‘
