1. World Vision Australia2. From the beginning, World

Vision's activities have been focused on giving people – especially children – opportunities to alleviate their suffering and to improve their

lives. In 1947, American missionary Dr Robert Pierce travelled to China and Korea and encountered people who regularly had to go without food, clothing, shelter or medicine. During the Korean War in the early fifties, he helped set up orphanages to care for children who’d been abandoned or orphaned. Upon his return to the US, Pierce began raising funds to continue and expand his work in Asia. The strength of the public response was such that, in September 1950, World Vision was founded, with Pierce as its president. World Vision was established in Australia in 1966.

3. World Visions mission is to be a Christian organisation that engages people to eliminate poverty and its causes.

1. Cancer Council Australia2. Cancer Council Australia commenced in 1961 as the Australian Cancer Society, when

the six state Cancer Councils – which then varied in name and brand – agreed to establish a federal body to promote cancer control at the national level. Cancer organisations in the ACT and the Northern Territory were subsequently formed and signed on as members of the society. In 1997 the eight jurisdictional members agreed to expand the Society, renaming it The Cancer Council Australia and appointing an expert Chief Executive Officer, Professor Alan Coates, to lead the organisation’s push for improved national cancer control policy and build its profile. Specialist staff in communications, advocacy, business management, marketing and other professional roles were recruited to promote the organisation’s mission.

3. Cancer Councils mission is to lead a cohesive approach to reduce the impact of cancer. Cancer Council Australia works with its members, the eight state and territory cancer organisations to: undertake and fund cancer research prevent and control cancer provide information and support for people affected by cancer.

I believe that World Vision is a more successful organisation because they are able to take direct action for their cause whereas Cancer Council only raise money and awareness for their causes.

6. In my opinion cancer council is more successful in the aspect of merchandising because they have a lot more products and there merchandise is well known throughout the whole world and is more
