Did you know there are a range of revision techniques you can learn and apply to give you a better chance of remembering key content for your exams?

In this student exam revision special of our Learning with Lynda.com newsletter, we've pulled together some fantastic content from the Lynda.com course 'Learning Study Skills' to help get you up and running with revision. The course has been split into four manageable bite size chunks - after all, we are talking about exam revision, right?

The course author, Paul Nowak teaches speed-reading and memory improvement at organizations such as NASA and Google, and is the founder and director of Iris Reading.

Ramp Up Your ReadingThe first section of the course focuses on improving your reading - not just the speed at which you read content but how well you actually take the information in.

One of the key videos we've picked out from this section is the 'Improving your reading comprehension through speed variability' video. It explores how you can improve comprehension by speeding up and slowing down when reading, especially when reading the first sentence of a paragraph.

Improving Your Note-taking SkillsSection two of the course looks at note-taking, exploring why we take notes, why to avoid excessive highlighting or note-taking, and introduces you to the Cornell note-taking system.

The 'Avoiding excessive highlighting and note-taking' video explores the pitfalls of highlighting content as you read, rather than finishing reading a paragraph then deciding what was important enough to be highlighted or noted.
