Follow the steps to learn about a topic…
STEP 1
· Log onto the computer using your user name and password.
· Once the computer has loaded, click on the Internet Explorer icon.
STEP 2
· The Thurmont Elementary page will appear.
· Click on the left side word “media” to go to the media center page.
STEP 3
· Click the icon that says “ LS2 Kids”.
· This page will appear
STEP 4
· You can type the name of the book in the search box.
· Search each of the icons circling the dog to look at different categories of books you may find interesting.
· A list of the titles will scroll along the page.
STILL DIDN’T FIND WHAT YOU WERE LOOKING FOR?
Try a key word search:
· Use this is you know you want to learn about a general topic, but you don’t know the exact words to type in the “search” box.
· Let’s say you want to know more about pets, you would type in the word “pets” and many different books and videos about many different pets would appear.
Try a subject search:
· Use this is you know you want to learn about a specific topic.
· If you want to know more
about dogs, you would
type in the word “dog”
and many different books
and videos about many different dogs would appear.
· If you wanted fiction stories about dogs, type in “dog stories” and your choices would come across the screen.
Look at the list below for common searches that may need to have different “wording” in order to be found. If you are still having trouble, raise your hand and Ms. Fujii will help you.
