Wow!!!  We are so blessed to have the beautiful carpet in our church.  It is our way of honoring God by enhancing the worship space. At Holy Mass each week we become ever more deeply the body of Jesus as we grow in our faith life.  It is here that we welcome one another and support each other with our prayers. In receiving Jesus in Holy Communion we are drawn into His very life and we become what God made us: His holy children.   I am so very grateful to many parishioners who played an important part in the completion of this great gift. We can particularly thank Gini Jeran and Nick Cutright who researched, started and walked the project through to completion.  May our loving God bless all of you. May you, our parishioners, also be blessed and thanked because it is your weekly giving that enabled us to realize this blessing.Peace and love in Jesus,Fr. Joe

Thanks for the CalendarsOur Holy Rosary 2018 calendars have arrived. Many thanks to Nicholas Cutright, owner of Heavner and Cutright Funeral Home in Buckhannon for sponsoring our calendars. The calendars are located at the doors of the church for each family.

Celebrating the PallottinesThis past week we celebrated the feast day of Saint Vincent Pallotti. In 1853 he founded the Pallottines, a community of lay, religious, and clerical members. Sister Francesca Lowis, a member of the pastoral team at St. Joseph's Hospital and a faithful member of our parish is a member of the Pallottine community. Her founder taught that every person is a mirror of God and is worthy of love and reverence. This being Respect Life Month, it might be well for all of us to remember that teaching. In his day it was rare for the Catholic laity to share in the social outreach of their church. That belonged to the domain of the clergy and members of religious communities (Sisters and Brothers), but Saint Vincent believed that every Christian was called to share in reaching to people in need. He would be proud of our efforts to do just that at Holy Rosary.

Ash Wednesday is February 14!Won't Be Long

It won't be long before the holy season of Lent begins (February 14th is Ash Wednesday). Our Adult Faith Ministry has some grace filled opportunities planned during Lent, including Stations of the Cross (contemporary and traditional), a Lenten Prayer Brunch, a "Lenten Meal and Movie" every Friday, and a Lenten Library of written material to help make the season even more holy for you. Before all of that, our Fellowship Ministry will be hosting a Mardi Gras celebration for the parish and throughout Lent our Christian Concerns Ministry will be having us involved in a special project. "Stay tuned for details!"

Mass Intentions for 2018 Do you have a specific mass intention for next year? Would you like to have a mass offered for a loved one or a deceased member of your family? Please drop your intentions (plus your $5 donation) in an envelope or give it to Father Joe. Specific dates may go quickly, so act now.

Thank You!Our Christian Concerns Ministry gives thanks to God and to you for your kindness this past year. Because of your sense of caring for others last year, our church reached out in so many ways to help people in so many desperate situations. God bless you and pour out his favor upon you for all you made possible, not only through our "Needy Basket" but through your donations of diapers for our Diaper Bank, food and plastic containers for our lunch programs, and your involvement in our many special projects. Thank you for touching the hearts of others.

Men’s GroupThe men's group will be meeting every Wednesday at 6:30 a.m. in Marist Hall. If you are interested in another meeting time, please contact Sal Carmona at 304-642-0866.  The theme this spring is spiritual development and male leadership. All men of the parish are invited to attend.

Mardi Gras Coming! Are you ready for the parish Mardi Gras? Won't be long before it's here. Mark your calendar and get ready for some real family entertainment. The date: Sunday, Feb. 11. The time: 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. The place: Marist

Hall. Mardi Gras will be the last chance for our parish to hoot and holler before the more somber season of Lent begins. This year our Mardi Gras celebration, sponsored by our Fellowship Ministry, will include a 50/50 drawing and a raffle, Mardi Gras bingo, games, a live jazz band and a special Mardi Gras cake. Look for the potluck signup in Marist Hall and bring your favorite dish to share.

LIVE THE LITURGYINSPIRATION FOR THE WEEK

Jesus had a way of amazing the crowds. There was something very different about not only what he taught but how he taught it. He brought an authority to what he said that gave it a credibility that was not experienced elsewhere. His words were not only prophetic but rang true to the experience of the people, especially those who were poor, marginalized, victimized, lost, or forgotten. Do Jesus’ words ring true to you? The Gospel message transcends time and space and has a profound relevancy in every generation. Jesus is still trying to point us toward our truth and have us see and accept who we are in God. Are you ready to hear this? We are asked to bring credibility to this same Gospel message by how we live our lives.
