About Me (CSA) Hi. My name is Daanyal Siddiqui, and I am 13 years old. This is my first year at Semiahmoo Secondary because I am in grade 8. I was born on February 6 th , 2002 in Surrey, BC. My previous elementary school was Sunnyside Elementary in White Rock. I am very excited to be starting high school. This is my house and the street that I grew up on. If you look closely at the far right side of the image, you can see a couple of basketball hoops. Ever since I was young I always loved basketball and sports. I used that small hoop for a lot of years and then gradually moved on to the bigger one. I hope to join the Semiahmoo basketball team this year and throughout my high school adventure. My house also has a pretty big backyard and I’m not sure if that influenced my passion for being outdoors and camping/hiking. By completing this course, I want to learn how to do Photoshop, video editing, animations, and computer skills that will help me to advance further. In the syllabus that we were given, I really like that we would do Photoshop because,

About Me

(CSA)Hi. My name is Daanyal Siddiqui, and I am 13 years old. This is my first year at

Semiahmoo Secondary because I am in grade 8. I was born on February 6th, 2002 in Surrey, BC.

In the syllabus that we were given, I really like that we would do Photoshop because, that was one of the things that I wanted to do for a long time, but I always found it pretty complicated and confusing. But I hope that with your knowledge of technology, you can help me and the rest of the class in improving our weaknesses and making our computer skills stronger and more elaborate. I know how to do a lot of things in the computer, but I almost never use Windows, only OSX on the iMac, and MacBook.

In my family, I have my parents and one sister. My dad is an instructor and he works at BCIT. My sister goes to Sunnyside Elementary, and she is in grade 5 this year. I don’t have any pets.

One of my big hobbies is electronics. I love playing with old electronics and opening them up to examine what is inside and identifying components on the circuit board, like capacitors, (don’t touch those!) resistors, diodes, led lights etc. Then what I do is take those components off the board if the device is broken and I like to try to make them work by connecting them to electricity with batteries. I find it so mesmerizing to watch as you take a bunch of tiny little pieces put them on a green piece of plastic connect them with wires and it makes something amazing. I also like to try to find alternate sources of electricity to use to power small electronic devices like cellphones and iPads. Did you know there is a self-powered lightbulb? If you take a solar panel, and position it on top of the lightbulb and then connect it to the bulb, then the light that shines from the bulb will go into the solar panel, be transformed into electricity and get directed back into the light bulb! It’s a really cool concept and I like to do things like that.

I use my technology skills to get my work done and to improve my grade. Obviously using Microsoft Word on a PC, or Pages on a Mac is one way to get your work done, but if you want to mix it up there are some other cool programs that I also use to get my work done, and improve my grade at the same time! One of my favourite programs to do animations is Blender. It is really interesting to make your animations, and it is also completely customizable, you can add any type of effects that you want to, and you feel really proud of yourself once you see the final, completed product. I’m not too good with it yet, but I am looking to improve and I hope that we can do this in this course.
