Comment on how far the representation of gender is different. You have selected key evidence/close references to support all your points. Analysed connotations in sufficient depth (zoom in on key details and fully

explore meaning and how the producers have achieved it) Make clear links to key media theories (Male Gaze/Uses & Gratification

theory/Feminism/Propp). Include media terminology (use your terms in task 1) Clear links to the target audience Task 5: Knowledge Test: Media Audiences

List 6 ways we could define an audience (e.g. Age)

Define these two audience terms. Challenge: Provide an example of an active and passive audience. Definition: Example:

Active Audience

Passive Audience

Give four examples from the set texts (This Girl Can advert, Quality Streets advert, Spectre film poster and GQ magazine front cover) and explain how they evidence one area of the Uses and Gratifications theory.

Example: Pride Magazine front Cover

Part of theory: Personal Identity

Evidence: Use a successful, black, British cover star as their dominant image, Pride is presenting a role model for its readers but, importantly, someone from their community. Harris was raised in a single-parent household and came from a working class background. This very ‘normal’ upbringing makes it easier for the readers to aspire to be like her
