THE ROBERTSON REPORT
FIRST NINE WEEKS ALMOST OVER
This first nine weeks has been packed full of all sorts of learning! In Math
we've been studying whole numbers and decimals. In the coming weeks,
we'll be learning more about how to compare, order, add, subtract, multiply,
and divide decimals. Encourage your child to continue to practice their
basic math facts. We have finished our Social Studies unit on the Civil War
and have now begun our Science unit on Plant and Animal Classification,
Cells, and Heredity. In the next few weeks, we'll be finishing our mentor
text in Literacy (Steal Away Home by Lois Ruby) and writing several types
of writing including an opinion piece on the importance of reading.
Needless to say, we're keeping ourselves busy.
Please pay attention to the important dates listed on this newsletter, and
know that I'm looking forward to meeting with you during Parent/Teacher
Conferences the week of September 23rd! If you’re interested in monitoring
your child’s progress online
https://go2.gwinnett.k12.ga.us/parent/wps/portal , please sign up in our
school’s Parent Center.

AnnouncementsGREAT NEWS! We have a class set of NEO keyboards/notepads in our classroom. Using these machines, students will be able to take AR tests, word process, take keyboarding lessons, and immediately respond to questions in class using a clicker device, practice math facts, and all kinds of other fun, interactive things.
MORE GREAT NEWS! Alcon and Prevent Blindness Georgia are partnering to provide ALL of our Peachtree Panthers free vision screenings and potentially free glasses. This program is called Kids Vision for Life and will take place Oct. 2-3. A permission letter came home in your child's Friday folder to provide you with more information.
Please consider donating/helping raise money for our Peachtree Care Team during this year's Walk-A-Thon Sept. 30-Oct.4 during P.E.
We are partnering with Pizza Hut this year to help motivate your child to want to read more at home. Pizza Hut’s “Book It!” program would like to give your child a reading award certificate at the end of each month if they meet their monthly reading goal. I set the goal for your child each month. Redeem the certificate at Pizza Hut for a FREE personal pan pizza!
