What do you think about his work? Look at his use of colour
whether it is bright or subtle does it set a mood in the picture?
Create your own inspired ‘Gakonga’ artwork using either:
Pastels – for thick and bold colours
Water colours - for colour wash background
If do not have these at home. Think about cutting out the

What foods originate from Africa? Research with your family and then … Do you have any foods in your kitchen that
originate from Africa?
TASTE THEM! You are going to use each of your senses to describe them.
What does the food…? Look like? Feel like? Smell? Taste?
Can you create something yummy in your kitchen using any of these
ingredients?
FrenchCan you find the French names for African animals? Which animals do you like? You love? You don’t like?
What animals do you have in your house? What animals do you not have in your house? Use these
phrases and practice them out loud…
J’ai – I haveJe n’ai pas – I do not have
Maybe you have more than one pet… Can you practice saying the sentence
with the number of pets you have?e.g.
J'ai deux cobayes – I have two guinea-pigs
Geography1.Locating Africa on a map of the world.
Use the map on the next page to label: some of the countries within it, the seas that are nearby, colour the
types of terrain and where the equator is.
2.Choose one the countries on the continent of Africa and produce a poster about that country. The information I want on it…
The population. How big it is. The leader of the country. The type of terrain (it could
have more than one) The animals that live there. What people eat there? Any famous people. And anything else you want to
add!History
Go through the Africa’s Past PowerPoint attached in the
weekly email.

table…

in importance of Africa and its people with the most important at
the top of the diamond and the least important at the bottom?
MusicGet out your pots and pans! Let’s
make some noise! Can you come up with your own rhythmic repeating
pattern? You can use a grid to help record your pattern. You can clap it to practice then add your chosen
instrument.Challenge: Make your rhythm longer
using 8 boxes rather than 4 or 16 boxes rather than 8.
You could add words to the boxes or simply just different things to hit or
tap. Leave gaps for space in the music!
Here’s an example:Clap click click
Clap Tap on pan
Hey!
Practice your rhythm over and over again until you can repeat it at a

Writing down your thoughts and feelings is always a good idea. It
helps them to be free so they aren’t always stuck in your head.
I want you to write the answers to these questions…
What is your favourite thing to do at home?
What are you missing? What are you worried about?
What are you looking forward to when we get back to school?
What do you want to be when you’re older?
