4 inquiry periodsStudents will create their responsibility charts to use over the winter break: see Dec. 11th letter for more informationHW: discuss with parents what and how to use the chart over the break, parents will sign their worksheet as evidence of having a discussion at home.

Students will create their “responsibility rings”: Responsible actions at home, in their community, in their country, in the world.

5 inquiry periods

Using ClassDojo to discuss and review the concept: Responsibility-We will create a classroom ClassDojo poster with images of our icons beside illustrations of us doing “what we are supposed to do at the right time”.-We will use printed images of the students’ avatars to describe responsible actions in different locations at school (in the hallway, in the library, in the cafeteria, in the classroom, etc.)

Holiday Extravaganza! Combined class with PYP 2:Sts will look at traditional winter holidays celebrated around the world: Christmas, Hanuka, and Kwanza. Several activities for the day (in reading/writing/math/social studies, etc.) will be related to the topic of winter, holiday celebrations, and the New Year.

5 inquiry periods

A day of sight words: Students will be assessed individually in the morning period.For the afternoon we will be creating and organizing our word wall. We will be observing phonemic patterns and classifying words based on frequency they occur together. This will take all 3 blocks of our afternoon, as the students will be the ones creating and organizing all nearly 100 sight words together.HW: Read flash cards at home (this will be an ongoing assignment over winter break)
