Below is an example of software which could be recommended and has been proven to have a massive impact in reducing the above barriers. This can increase the likelihood of a positive outcome (see case studies attached)

Texthelp (Literacy Support Software) The software has been specifically designed for users with dyslexia and provides many tools to help accessand compose written material. Features include High quality speech feedback, phonetic spell checker, word prediction, dictionary, screen masking and talking calculator. If used alongside a Scanner, users canhave paper-based documents read aloud or saved for editing. Users will have the facility to use basic or advanced word lists and definitions in the dictionary, word prediction list and homophone checker.

Livescribe Echo Desktop PenThis equipment allows you to write using a specialised pen onto compatible notepaper while recordingaudio to allow a playback facility on PC, tablet or smartphone. There are many uses for this; recording assessor visits or classes, or recording personal reminders alongside written notes. During playback userssimply touch their written text and the pen reads aloud what was being said at the time of writing.
