SOMETHING FROM THE SECRETARY

Well – what do I say? I was hoping to be able to write something really interesting for this newsletter, but apart from the fantastic Dinner/Dance at Pentire Hotel, Newquay, which I believe everyone who attended enjoyed, everything else has had to be cancelled.

We are in the most unusual situation of having to cancel all rallies for the next few months and nobody can forecast how long this will last. All I can say to our members is keep safe and hopefully we will all come through this eventually and be able to get back to what we love doing – rallying!

Dinner and DanceA big thank you to Euphine and Team for the wonderful Dinner and Dance at the Pentire Hotel Newquay. The food was amazing, and the evening went with a real swing, it was lovely to see old and new friends and enjoy such lovely company. This is always the highlight of the rallying year for many of us, a chance to put on our glad rags and have a wonderful time.

Hi All

Where has the first four months gone since the AGM. We were hoping to start our 2020 rally season off with Valentines being the first rally of the year. Unfortunately, mother nature had other ideas and we had to cancel the rally because of the severe weather. A disappointment for the stewards and those that were going to brave the weather, but it was the right decision on the weekend. Next came the annual Dinner Dance at Pentire Hotel at Newquay, Cornwall. It was lovely to see so many people, members, visitors, past chairman and friends. Thank you to the stewards and all who attended for making it such an enjoyable weekend for us all. The weather has started to improve as we have seen so much rain in the first three months of the year there can’t be much left, and the summer will be dry ready for our rallying season.

Now out of the blue the Coronavirus has hit us all like a shot from a gun completely unexpected creating a mass cancellation of the start to our rallying season. This virus is an unprecedented event which no-one could have foreseen. Following the Government and Caravan and Motorhome Club guidance we have had to cancel all rally’s up to the end of June. While this Virus is still active in the population, we might yet need to go further with our current cancellation date until such time as the situation improves. We will keep you informed on our website and face book page. All cancelled rally deposit will be refunded in due course to those affected. All I can say is please follow all the Government guidelines and action plan on this Virus to stay as safe as you can. Please stay safe and remember the three points.

‘Catch It. Bin It. Kill It’I must say a big thank you to the stewards and all the helpers in dealing with all the communication of the cancellations of their rally’s, communicating and contacting their respect Caravan sites and with those that have booked on to their rally along with organising their deposit refunds. A thank you must go to the caravan holiday parks we rally on for their understanding in this situation and hopefully we will be able to reschedule these rally’s in 2021 and make them a success both for the sites and for the stewards who put in all the effort in organising a rally for us the centre members.

In May the centre would have celebrated a landmark of 4000 rallies with a Celebration rally, unfortunately along with the other rally’s this rally has been cancelled. This one will be rescheduled for another date. I do not know yet when but whenever it will be we will try to make it an enjoyable weekend for everyone.

This years centre Charity is “Make a Wish” South West region. A charity that grant wishes to children with critical illnesses to make these wishes life changing realities for them. This year’s ladies fund raising event has been cancelled but hopefully we will be able to start rallying again later in the year and be able to support this Charity.

I must say a big thank you to all my officers and committee who all work tirelessly for the centre in given me all their support, having to make quick decision on the run while dealing with the ongoing centre administration of the centre and the issue which affect us with and around the Coronavirus.
