Dear Parent/Carer

The transition season for your child is underway. Please find enclosed in this pack a letter to your child from a current year seven student welcoming them to the school, and the 2020 Handbook which contains important information about the Academy, including uniform and timings of the day. A copy of the behaviour policy and other key information can be found on our school website.

Transition Evening – Wednesday 1 st July 2020

As part of the transition phase, we would also like to invite you to the Academy to meet the important people that will play a huge part in your child’s education and life here at The Stockwood Park Academy. The evening will start at 5pm with an address from the Head of School. You will be greeted in reception and have the opportunity to meet other parents, myself, and form tutors in our canteen, where staff will be providing samples of food for tasting and showing you as parents what sort of food your child will be receiving when they arrive in September. The evening is due to finish around 7.00pm.

Uniform Selling event - Monday 13 th July 2020

We realise that for some of our parents the uniform shop is not easy to reach, so at The Stockwood Park Academy we bring the uniform shop to you. Staff from Prestige and pastoral staff from the academy will be on hand from 4pm-6pm to help answer any questions you may have about uniform and sizing. The evening gives you and your child an opportunity to try the samples on offer and pay for it either by cash, card or cheque; this will then be delivered directly to your home.

Transition Days – Thursday 2 nd & Friday 3 rd July 2020

Transition days this year take place on Thursday 2 nd & Friday 3 rd July 2020 and is a great opportunity for our new students to meet each other and our staff. Students need to make their own way to the Academy and arrive for 9:00am on both days at the Dining Hall, where they will be registered. Students are required to wear their current Primary School uniform for these days and bring their trainers to wear for PE.After an address from the Head of School, students will spend the day in their new tutor groups getting to know one another, the Academy building and attending lots of different lessons.

Lunch will be provided for all students, but you may want to send your child with a small snack and a bottle of still water for break time. Please be aware fizzy drinks are not permitted in the Academy.

The transition days finish at 3pm. Please ensure your child is collected by a responsible adult at this time or allowed to walk home on their own as they will be dismissed at 3pm

First Day of School – Friday 4th September 2020

The first day of school for the new academic year will be Friday 4th September 2020. On this day students will need to arrive to their form room at 8:40am for registration. Staff and year 7 buddies will be around to help. Students will need to bring a packed lunch or £2.50 for lunch (the correct change is greatly appreciated)
