The Northeastern Catholic District School Board cordially invites you to attend the Pope Francis Elementary School sod-turning “Shovel in the Ground” Ceremony to take place on Monday, June 26, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. This special event will be the officially kickoff to the renovations and construction of Pope Francis Elementary School.

JANUARY 2017

January 1 - Bishop Poitras will be at Saint Anthony of Padua Cathedral Parish for the New Year’s wishes and he will also be celebrating masses during the week from January 3rd to the 6th, replacing Msgr Pat Lafleur.

DECEMBER 2016

During the month of November and on December 11th, Bishop Poitras will be doing ministry at Sts-Martyrs-Canadiens and Saint Anne Parish in Iroquois Falls replacing Father Léo Rancourt.

Dec. 3 -4 – Bishop Poitras presides celebrations at Saint-Joseph Parish, Timmins; Saturday, Dec. 3rd at 4:30p.m. and Sunday, Dec. 4, at 10:00 a.m.

Dec. 5 - Bishop Poitras is joining the other members of the Financial Diocesan Council for their meeting at 7:00 p.m.

Dec. 6-7 - Celebrations presided by Bishop Poitras at Saint Anthony of Padua Cathedral Parish; Tuesday the 6th at 7:00 p.m. and Wednesday the 7th, at 12:10p.m.

Dec. 8-10 - Bishop is participating at the Ordination of : His Exc. Bishop Marc Pelchat, elected Titular Bishop of Lambesi and His Exc. Louis Corriveau, elected Titular Bishop of Arena. These Ordinations are taking place at Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupré Basilica in Québec.

July 21 – Bishop will preside Mass at St-Mary’s Garden retirement Home in Timmins.

Fraternal gathering with Diocesan staff to underline the three Sisters (N.D.A.) that resided at the Residence portion of the Centre as they are retiring and moving to Rouyn Noranda.

July 31– Celebration at Immaculée-Conception Parish to underline the Centenary of the ‘Big Fire’ of Val Gagné.

August 1 - 4 – Bishop is participating at the Supreme Convention of the Knights of Columbus in Toronto.

August 31 – BBQ-Meeting with the priests of the Diocese of Timmins at Boisjoli cottage in New Liskeard.

Bishop will be doing Ministry at several Parishes during the summer months to help with the relief of priests during their holidays.

June 23 - O’Gorman High School Grade 12 Students Graduation O’Gorman High School’s Grade 12 Graduation ceremony will take place on Thursday, June 23rd, 2016 at St. Anthony’s Cathedral starting at 1:00 pm with the Celebration of the Eucharist by Bishop Serge Poitras.

Following the mass, the graduation ceremony with begin with the conferring of diplomas and the awarding of scholarships and bursaries to deserving students to which Bishop Poitras will be participating.

February 2 – On this day dedicated to the Religious and to underline the end of the Year for Consecrated Life promulgated by our Holy Father, Bishop Poitras invited the men and women religious of our diocese to spend some time in sharing followed by a meal and mass at Saint-Dominique-du-Rosaire Parish in Timmins.

February 7 – Meeting with the Bishop for the candidates and their parents that are preparing for their confirmation at Saint Joachim Parish in South Porcupine at 6:30.

February 9 – Meeting with the Coordinating Table members in Matheson

February 10 – Distribution of ashes and celebration at the Chapel of the Diocesan Centre for the staff.

February 17 – Mass with the Brothers of Sacré-Coeur in Timmins.

February 19 – Spiritual sharing meeting with the direction, principals of our Catholic school, pastoral animators, priests and mandated persons in pastoral ministry on the English sector at Saint Anthony’s Parish Hall from 8:30 a.m. to noon.

February 20 - Meeting with the Bishop for the candidates and their parents that are preparing for their confirmation at Saint Anthony of Padua Cathedral Parish in Timmins at 1:30 p.m.

February 22 – Bishop Poitras will have a celebration of the solemn Vespers of the Chair of Saint Peter at 7:00 p.m. at the Cathedral. On this occasion, Father Patrick D. Lafleur, Pastor of the Cathedral and Vicar General, will be named ‘Chaplain to His Holiness’. He will become a member of the Pontifical Family and will carry the honorary title of ‘Monsignor’.

February 27 – Bishop Poitras will participate in the ‘Graduation ceremony’ honouring the ACCESS Centre graduates being held at O’Gorman High School at 11 a.m.Bishop Poitras will give the sacrament of Reconciliation to persons participating in workshops organized by the ‘Healing Hearts’ group at Sacred Heart Parish.

This meeting is being held in Ramore from 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. at St-Laurent Parish. Dec. 7 – Meeting with the Diocesan Finance Council at the Diocesan Centre.

Dec. 8 – Immaculate Conception celebration at Notre-Dame-de-la-Paix Parish in Timmins at 7:00 p.m. – marking also the Opening of the Holy Year of Mercy.

Dec. 9 – Mass is being presided at 3:45 p.m. by Bishop Poitras at Georgian Residence in Timmins, also marking the first Anniversary of the passing of Father Maurice Magnan. Dec. 11 – Fraternal meeting with the associates of Notre-Dame-Auxiliatrices Sisters (NDA) at 5:00 p.m.

Dec. 12 – Vespers and Blessing of the Holy door at the Cathedral - Saint Anthony of Padua Cathedral Parish at 2:00 p.m.

Sept. 8: Bishop Poitras presides at the Marian Feast Diocesan celebration at Sainte-Croix Parish in Haileybury at 7:00 p.m. At this celebration, this year the Diocese wishes to recognize those involved in school pastoral ministry in the English and French Catholic schools of the South region of the Diocese of Timmins.
