Becoming Excited about Dinner : Delicious Fajitas

Being excited about dinner is important, without that excitement you are more likely to put on the pounds by snacking all day. When you are exited about what you eat, you are more willing to not eat that extra cookie in preparation of a delicious meal. Bland food is nothing to get excited about, try this flavorful method to cooking fajitas and you’ll remember what it was like to be excited about food.

Cooking the Protein

First things first, you will need to cook the meat, whether you are using chicken, beef, shrimp or something else you need to make sure your meat is cooked before you do anything.

Toss in Some Vegetables

Once your meat is cooked you will need to add some vegetables. I prefer onion, red pepper and some minced garlic. You’ll want to cook them until they are tender.

Adding the Seasoning

The key to a delicious fajita dinner is the seasoning used. I cannot express how important this is. Homemade is always delicious, but you are able to buy it premade from the store as well.

Letting it All Cook Together

4

Letting your meat, vegetables and seasoning cook together for a while will allow the flavors to fuse together giving you that full

delicious flavor you’ve been missing. Tip: allow the dish to slightly burn on the bottom and then mixing it into the rest of the food, this will give it that extra punch of flavor.

Serving Your Dish

There are several different ways you can serve this dish, the traditional way with a tortilla, beans, rice, sour cream, cheese and some salsa; over rice, or even as a salad. However you take it make sure you enjoy your meal!

What ever recipe you cook for you and your family, make sure it is something you are looking forward to eating. Having a delicious meal waiting for you at the end of the day will help you be more proactive in the foods you eat through the day.

In case of emergency you will need to know how to put out different types of fires, and if needed know how and when to save yourself.

Different causes of fires:

Kitchen Fire - because the kitchen is where heat, electricity, water and grease all come together a kitchen fire is the most common type of fire.

Electrical Fire - another common fire, especially in the winter months, is an electrical fire.

Unattended Open Flame - whether it is a candle, fire in the fireplace or cigarette, unattended fires are leading cause of fires In the home.

Depending on the situation, you will need the following:

Cell Phone Fire extinguisher Baking soda or salt Towel

Figure 1

Combating a Kitchen Fire

Step one: Identify the source of the fuel, i.e. oil, oxygen, grease etc.

Step Two: Pan fire:

1. put the lid of the pan, or a damp towel over the fire to smother the flames. (see figure 1)2. If this does not extinguish the fire try smothering it with baking soda or salt.

3. If no baking soda or salt is available use a fire extinguisher (see figure 3 for instructions on use).

4. If these methods do not work, or the fire is to large, evacuate everyone from the home and call the fire department.

*Note: Never use water to put out a grease fire, water repels grease and can spread the fire.

Fire in the oven/microwave:1. Close the oven/microwave door. This will cut off the oxygen to the fire. (see figure 2)

2. Shut off all power to the oven or door, this remove the heat source.

Step Three: If you are unable to safely put out the kitchen fire evacuate all residents, shutting all doors if possible to minimize fire and smoke damage, and use your cell phone to call the fire department.

Figure 2

Combating an Electrical Fire

Step 1: Turn off power to the electrical source, i.e. turn off power at the electrical panel.

Step 2: Remove anything unplugged, by pulling on the end of the cord.

Step 3: Use your fire extinguisher to put out the fire. (See figure 3 for instructions on use).

Step 4: if steps one and two do not work. Call the fire department and make sure they know you suspect it is an electrical fire.

*Note: electrical fires cannot be put out with water. Telling the fire department is critical to making sure the fire is put out properly.

Unattended Open Flame Fire

Step one: Identify the source of the fire.

Step two: If possible, cut off fuel/oxygen to the fire.

Step three: use fire extinguisher to put flames out. (see figure 3 for instructions on use)

Step four: if unable to put flames out, evacuate the residents, shutting all doors if possible to minimize fire and smoke damage, and use your cell phone to call the fire department.

MEMORANDUM

TO: All Personnel

FROM: Jeri LanderosDATE: June 20, 2015

RE: Group Work Advantages and Disadvantages

Working in groups has several advantages and disadvantages, listed below are a few of each:

Advantages:

Large assignments are easier to handle

More comprehensive research can be done

Teaches people how to work together towards a common goal

Disadvantages:

Outcome depends on the entire project being done, if one person does not do their part or does poor work, then everyone suffers.

Work is not always able to be evenly distributed

Some people find it difficult to work in groups due to being antisocial or being unwilling to work a pace that is not their own.

After reading chapter 3 on working in teams I do agree that the steps outlined in the chapter would be extremely helpful in coordinating the workload and helping everyone work together to complete the project in a timely manner. However I also think that it would be difficult to remember to follow the steps and remember to keep to the schedule. Keeping a schedule is going to be the most important part of a group project, without a schedule it would be extremely difficult to keep everyone on track and complete the project on time.
