Notice of Race

1. RULES1.1 The regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing 2021-2024,

and the 707 Class Association Rules1.2 The Prescriptions of the Royal Yachting Association will apply.1.3 Special Attention should be paid to the following: Boats shall comply with Class Association

Rule 7.1(v) - This requires ‘An outboard motor of minimum weight 13 kg carried in the cockpit engine housing or a metal weight of not less than 13kg fixed in the cockpit engine housing’.

1.4 Boats without working engines must carry 2 paddles/oars as an alternative means of propulsion, along with the engine.

1.5 The following racing rules are changed;

● RRS 35 and A4 & A5: Boats failing to finish within 15 minutes of the first boat which sails the course and finishes will be scored Did Not Finish without a hearing. ● RRS 44.1: the Two-Turns Penalty is replaced by the One-Turn Penalty . ● RRS 61.3: The protest time limit is 90 minutes after the last boat has finished the last race of the day or the race committee signals no more racing today, whichever is the later. ● RRS 62.1(a): Failure to notify OCS by VHF announcement will not be grounds for protest.

● RRS 62.2: On the last scheduled day of racing a request for redress based on a protest committee decision shall be delivered no later than 30 minutes after the decision was

posted. ● RRS A4 & A5: Boats failing to start within 10 minutes of the starting signal will be scored Did Not Start without a hearing.

2. ADVERTISING2.1 Advertising may be displayed in accordance with ISAF Advertising Code (Regulation 20).2.2 Boats must display sponsor logos in the positions as prescribed in the welcome pack.2.3 Bow numbers will be available from PEYC when registering.

3. ELIGIBILITY and ENTRY 3.1 The regatta is open to all boats of the Hunter 707 class. 3.2 Eligible boats may enter by completing the online entry form linked below:

4. FEES4.1 The entry fee for the regatta is £100 per boat.4.2 Cranage, and berthing for 4 nights is £100, to be paid along with the entry fee.

6. SAILING INSTRUCTIONSThe Sailing Instructions will be available for download from the PEYC website https://www.peyc.org.uk/hyde-sails-707-2021-nationals from 15th July 2021.

7. RACING AREAThe racing area will be within 3 miles of Port Edgar Marina, South Queensferry.

8. THE COURSES The courses to be sailed will be windward/leeward type courses.

9. PENALTY SYSTEMRRS 44.1 is changed so that the Two-Turns penalty is replaced by the One-Turn Penalty.

10. SCORING10.1 The Low Points System of RRS Appendix A (Rule 4A) will apply.

10.2 The Regatta will consist of up to 14 races. 10.3 Three races are required to be completed to constitute a series. 10.4 (a) When 5 or less races have been completed, a boat’s series score shall be the

total of her race scores. (b) When 6 to 10 races have been completed, a boat’s series score shall be the total of her race scores, excluding her worst score. (c) When 11 or more races have been completed, a boat’s series score shall be the total of her race scores, excluding her two worst scores.

11. RISK STATEMENT Rule 3 of the Racing Rules of Sailing states that: ‘The responsibility for a boat’s decision to participate in a race or to continue racing is hers alone’

Sailing is by its nature an unpredictable sport and therefore inherently involves an element of risk by taking part in the event, each competitor agrees and acknowledges that:

(a) They are aware of the inherent element of risk involved in the sport and accept responsibility for the exposure of themselves, their crew and their boat to such inherent risk whilst taking part in the event;

(b) They are responsible for the safety of themselves, their crew, their boat and their other property whether afloat or ashore;

(c) They accept responsibility for any injury, damage or loss to the extent caused by their own actions or omissions;

(d) Their boat is in good order, equipped to sail in the event and they are fit to participate;(e) The provision of a race management team, race patrol boats and other officials and volunteers

by the event organiser does not relieve them of their own responsibilities;(f) The provision of patrol boat cover is limited to such assistance, particularly in extreme weather

conditions, as can be practically provided in the circumstances.(g) It is their responsibility to familiarise themselves with any risks specific to this venue or this

event drawn to their attention in any rules and information produced for the venue or event and to attend any safety briefings held for the event.

Inspections may be carried out each day at the discretion of the Race Committee.The fact that race officials may conduct inspections of a boat does not reduce the responsibilities of each competitor set out in this notice of race.

13. INSURANCE Each participating boat must be insured with valid third-party liability insurance with a minimum cover of £2,000,000 or the equivalent.

Covid:PEYC and the 707 Class Association will organise these championships using all Government Covid-19 guidelines.
