2. Complete an activity each day from White Rose. This activity is available on the Home Learning page for this year group. This will keep you up with learning we would be doing in school.

3. Practise your times tables: you could either use the Mathsframe website and practise the timed times table program, or play on Times Table Rockstarshttps://mathsframe.co.uk/en/resources/resource/477/Multiplication-Tables-Checkttrockstars.com/ You will need your own login for this- email [email protected] to get yours if you don’t yet have it…

Remember to keep doing last week’s dance with times tables…

4. Once a week you could test your skills on an arithmetic test…just like we do in school… This activity is available on the Home Learning page for this year group.

5. Complete the ‘Shape Draw’ investigation.

Look at the Shape Draw cards, which are attached to the home learning page.

Page 5: bressingham.norfolk.sch.uk€¦ · Web view2020/06/29  · Week beginning: 29th June 2020 Firstly, but most importantly, we hope that you are all well. Also, we understand that this

Can you use the information on the cards to draw the one shape which is being described?

A good place to start could be to draw 2d shapes which have parallel lines – for example a square, rectangle, parallelogram and rhombus. Next, find which of your shapes has 2 lines of symmetry. You should be able to eliminate some shapes which do not fit this criteria. Then, look at the rest of the criteria and decide which match or do not match your choice of shapes.Remember a regular shape is one which has equal angles and the same length of sides. All other shapes are classed as irregular.

The challenge is to end up with a name of one shape, which will fit all of the criteria on the shape cards.

WE look forward to seeing your solutions. PE Log on to a PE lesson with Joe Wicks should you wish to. Mrs Andrew

and Mrs Waller are doing this every day too!

Exercise through a story using Cosmic Kids yoga.

Science This week our Science learning will focus on muscles and movement.

What are muscles? Your child may know: muscles are linked to movement and are responsible for every movement our body makes.

Watch the clip below to find out more information about muscles:

https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/clips/zpp6n39

Muscles work in pairs. We can feel our muscles working by following these instructions:

1. Extend their arm in front of you and raise your fist towards your shoulder a few times.

2. Now, place your other hand over your upper arm as you follow step one.

You will be able to feel the muscle contracting (getting shorter and thicker) under your skin. This muscle is called your bicep. There are muscles opposite your bicep on the lower of side of your arm that contract every time your arm is straightened. These are called triceps. Biceps and triceps work in pairs to bend and straighten your arms.

Use the instructions below to create your own biceps and triceps

model. All instructions are on the home learning page.

Next, practise moving your muscles. Choose 2 physical activities (eg running, star jumps). Complete them for at least 1 minute. Predict the muscles which you use before completing the physical task. Complete the task and decide if you were correct? Which muscles can you feel now?

If you wish to you could use the recording sheet attached to the Home Learning page.

We look forward to seeing examples of muscles learning!

Topic30 Days Wild activity

This week. We would like to encourage you to complete your choice of activities from 30 Days Wild. You could have already been doing a different 30 Days Wild activity each day, but if you haven’t please give it a try.

Ongoing learning

Please continue to regularly read at home. Remember, reading to your child is as important as listening to them read to you!

If you read a particularly good book, it would be great if you could write a short book review about it to recommend it to your classmates! Here are some questions you could answer about it:What was the book about?Where are parts of your book set? Draw a picture of one of the settings and add labels using evidence from the text. What was your favourite part? Explain using evidence from the text.Who was your favourite character? Why?Who would you recommend this book to and why?Find some of the challenging words within the text and explain to someone at home what they mean.Remember to read a range of different genres of books: fiction, non-fiction, poetry etc.

Television:Everyone loves a bit of television from time to time, and we have a few recommendations of some television shows that are fun, but also educational!

There are also many other wonderful learning experiences that you can access at home. The weekly learning activities are just a guide. Please use your discretion to what works best for you and your family.

Play and enjoy spending precious time with your family. Enjoy being outside and enjoy the endless opportunities this provides.

There are many practical ideas for things you can do at home on the home learning page.
