The Birmingham Branch of Knitting & Crochet Guild Knitalong Lace Mystery Blanket

In these difficult times, we are reaching out to keep in touch with as many people as possible. Please forward this to anyone you know who may enjoy it.

The blanket is complete, but a secret. Some of us are using bright coloured acrylic yarn because we have some at home and acrylic means that the finished item will be practical for all sort of purposes. None of the individual patterns are unique but have been carefully selected from a number of different sources all of which are acknowledged for each square.

As we can't meet in person to show and tell how we are getting along we aim to have Skype or Zoom virtual meetings or you can post on FB. So watch this space for dates times and instructions for those, i.e. most of us, who are unfamiliar with the technology.

The squares are all 43 stitches, with a 3 stitch garter stitch border, unless otherwise stated, and start and finish with 6 rows of garter stitch. So, each pattern lies within the 3 stitch (or more) garter stitch border at the beginning and end of each row.

Key:

C6F (Cable 6 front) = slip next 3 sts onto cable needle and hold at front of work, knit next 3 sts from left hand needle, then knit sts from cable needle

K2tog = knit two together

KW2 = knit next st wrapping yarn twice round needle

KW3 = knit next st wrapping yarn 3 times round needle

Kw5 = knit 5 sts wrapping yarn twice round needle for each stitch

M1 = make one stitch (usually by knitting into the gap loop between the stitch on the right hand needle and that on the left)

Psso = pass slip stitch over

Sl.1 = slip one stitch from left to right needle

Ssk = slip one stitch from left to right, knit one, and pass the slipped stitch over (i.e. decrease one stitch)

Yf = yarn forward

Yfrn = yarn front round needle

Yo = yarn over

As this pattern is a multiple of 6 plus 3 then the square consists of 6 repeats, plus the 3 additional, with a border of 2 garter stitches
