Merry Christmas What a year we have had! As the Principal of Davallia Primary School, it never ceases to amaze the fantastic learning that happens on a daily basis, but more so, how much fun we have along the way. As educators we are charged with helping to develop the communities most valuable asset – your children, and that is a really important role. At school, we plan and deliver learning programs to support academic attainment, creating the stepping stones for future learning. But Schools are far more than simply a student grade allocation or a NAPLAN score. Don’t get me wrong, these are important, but schools, and in particular primary schools, should be about developing the whole child – academically, emotionally, physically and socially. We strive to do this at Davallia Primary School. It’s about creating a culture that is I always have to have the final word! caring, that is driven by our values and supports the development of the whole child. I believe we’ve got the balance right. I believe school is supposed to be fun and kids and staff need to be happy coming to school. Perfect, we ae not! There are always things we can and need to improve. But that is next year! To our school community, thank you for being such a big part of our school’s success. Without exception, the community comes out in large numbers to support school ventures. This never goes unnoticed. I’ve said it before, great schools do not operate in isolation from their community, and we are so grateful we have a school community that does work hand in hand with the school creating that authentic partnership so many schools strive to achieve. So to our school community a “…..we are so grateful we have a school community that does work hand in hand with the school creating that authentic partnership so many schools strive to achieve..” Merry Christmas to all from the Staff at Davallia Primary School. 14 th December 2017

Are P & C are awesome!

“…..we are so grateful we have

strive to achieve..”

The P & C provides unfailing support for Davallia Primary School and your children and my staff benefit greatly from their efforts.Like all school operations, the P & C reflect the values our school stands for. The operate in a respectful manner towards all, they take their roles in our school community with great responsibility, and they apply innovation in finding new and exciting ways to raise significant funds for our school. Not only do they raise important funds to enhance the learning environment and working environment for students and staff, they also contribute to the social fabric of our school community which is invaluable.

This year’s focus was on the development of a Nature Playground. This build cost was approximately $71,000 and was achieved through $56,000 of P & C funding, $10,000 Stronger Communities Grant and a $5,000 donation from Care for Kids. They also purchased a range of other things for the school including a much needed Sea Container to store the resources of the P & C.

Annually, we as a staff are humbled by the support our school receives.

Thank you so much and we look forward to continuing to work closely with you and actively listening to our school community to seek further opportunities for improvement and innovation.

2018 brings new opportunities for our school community to become actively involved in the workings of the P & C, so keep an eye out for things you can get involved in. They are a great bunch of people.

Merry Christmas to all from the Staff at Davallia Primary

Class of 2018 – Best Wishes

I am so proud of my staff (Admin, Teaching, Education Assistants, support and non-teaching). They are the consummate professionals who thoroughly enjoy their jobs and this is evidenced on a daily basis. They give so much of their ‘out of work’ time to the students and the school. This is something that does not happen in all schools. Their commitment to your children is steadfast in their endeavor to provide a rich and safe learning environment.I wish them all a very relaxing holiday period. A special thank you to Mrs Geraldine Vaughan, Mrs Theresa Moran and Ms Candi Nelson, who in many cases are the faces of our school.Their efforts in providing a welcoming and warm front office environment do not go unnoticed and are extremely well received by all. They are outstanding in the roles they do and provide immeasurable support and compassion to not only the students, but staff and community alike. They also do a very good job with keeping Mr Leaning and Mrs Lynch under control and out of trouble! (The Principal being a totally different kettle of fish!)

My Fabulous StaffI wish to compliment Daniel Moody and Taiyah Lewis on the leadership of the student body during 2017.As student leaders they have done a stellar job in their roles and their selection by their peers has been well justified. As role models for our younger Davallians they have been outstanding.Congratulations Daniel and Taiyah, I thank you for your efforts during 2017 and wish you every future success.

2018 Head Boy and Head GirlI also recognize Brock Hodgkinson and Mia Strijk in being elected to these important roles for 2018. I look forward to their leadership and congratulate them on their selection.

Head Boy and Head Girl!

We celebrated with lots of laughs and tears the graduation of our Class of 2018. It was a celebration of the culmination of 8 years of primary schooling. Our Year 6’s reminisced about the year spend at primary school and shared with the audience just some of their favourite moments at school. This group of student leaders have been absoluetle fantastic through =out 2018. They have risen to the occasion when asked Throughout 2017, it has been amazing to see the growth in these quality young people. They are a compassionate, accepting and inclusive group of Year 6’s and have demonstrated on a daily basis, the characteristics expected of student leaders. On behalf of the school community, we wish the Graduating Class of 2017 our very best wishes for a successful transition to high school. The Dr Seuss quote presented to our Year 6’s at their Graduation Ceremony;“With your head full of brains and your shoes full of feet, you’re too smart to go down any

not-so-good street.”
