WORKING TITLE: INSTRUCTOR – SUMMER PROGRAMS FEE-BASED DURATION: 06/16 – 08/15/2017 JOB DESCRIPTION: The Center is seeking instructors to design and teach a multidisciplinary course appropriate for highly capable students and providing an academic experience for those who are participating in the Robinson Center's Summer Program: Summer Challenge, a 3-week summer commuter program for students currently in the 5 th -6 th grade (July10 th - July 28 th ), and Summer Stretch, a 5-week summer program for 7 th -10 th graders (June 26 th – July 27 th ). This position involves day- to-day class instruction, supervision of teaching aides, and weekly and final individual progress reports. The Summer Program Instructor will report directly to the Summer Program Director. Duties may include but are not limited to the following: Attending staff orientation prior to the start of the Summer Program; Designing and developing course curriculum, with advice of the Summer Program Director, Principal and Assistant Principal; Preparing all course materials, including letters to be sent to students, syllabus, tests assignments, and informational handouts; Classroom instruction; Supervision of teaching aide(s); Timely approval of teaching aide’s bi-monthly timesheets; Coordination of all fieldtrips; Assessment of students’ progress, and completion of weekly progress reports and final transcripts REQUIREMENTS: Guthrie Annex II Box 351630 Seattle, Washington 98195-1630 206-543-4160 [email protected] http://RobinsonCenter.uw.edu

JOB DESCRIPTION:The Center is seeking instructors to design and teach a multidisciplinary course appropriate for highly capable students and providing an academic experience for those who are participating in the Robinson Center's Summer Program: Summer Challenge, a 3-week summer commuter program for students currently in the 5th -6th grade (July10th - July 28th), and Summer Stretch, a 5-week summer program for 7th -10th graders (June 26th – July 27th).   This position involves day-to-day class instruction, supervision of teaching aides, and weekly and final individual progress reports.

REQUIREMENTS: Advanced degree in subject matter; at least two years teaching experience; Experience teaching youth identified as highly capable; Able to attend all class sessions and the staff orientation; The ability to work collaboratively with staff and students at the Robinson Center.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: A satisfactory outcome of a criminal background verification will be required prior

to hire.
